cool story bro...

My monster in law passed away some years back and one of her obsessions was purses. I am not a purse person. So when it came time to clean out her abode, I was tossing purses in the 'curbside' pile. Hubby was like "ah, sweetheart... that is a coach purse you just cast off." I was like "um... ok.. and... um... so?" he was like "ya, that purse was very expensive. Keep it."

I still have it. It is nice. I use it sometimes. But I still am like 'whatevs' over the hoopila with coach purses. It is very similar to this...

I'm with you, Cheerios. Wouldn't know a Coach purse if I saw one. Don't care either.

But, I can tell you if a knife is good quality or not. Can't tell you brands but I can tell you by looking.

Love my coach, I've had it going on five years now and it still looks brand new. The price is well worth not having to replace it after a short amount of time.

Me too.  I live near an outlet, bought a gorgeous one for $100, used it for years.  I still have it but my everyday bag is one I got at Wilson Leather.  I can tell you right now that one will not last, it is 6 months old and already showing wear.

Totally agree. I have a few coach purses, and they age very well. My most recent purchase is a Michael Kors and I am in love with it. Well worth the money.

I used to hit the outlets all the time at my last job. When I had time to waste between appointments I'd go shopping. I got a wonderful cream and pink coach purse I love.

Know the best way to clean and condition leather - either real or faux?

SHAVING CREAM!!!!!

Yep, go raid the bathroom and use the shaving cream (foam, not gel)
to clean your leather. Take a slightly damp washcloth, give it a good
squirt of shaving cream, and work it in to the leather in circular
motions. The teeny tiny bubbles get in to all the nooks and crannies,
and lift out the dirt. Rinse with a clean damp washcloth, and you're
good to go for another couple of months. Works on light colored car
seats, as well.

My boss's wife picked out a beautiful red Coach purse for me one year,
and when she saw it a couple of years later, she couldn't believe that it
was the same one they gave me - it looked show-room new!

All I know is this - when going through my purses, the cheap ones seem to deteriorate just sitting in the closet over time - straps come apart, seems fray, any "plastic" parts (fake patent leather) start to peel. . My more pricey purses last for years.

I have a fake coach and real coach. Huge difference in quality.

I've started hanging by bags on hooks on the wall, displayed nicely.  I like to be able to see the Coach I got new, the vintage Prada that I found in a consignment store, the coach bag purse that I found in Value Village for $20 and the two hand-tooled leather bags from Florence.  There are also some crappy ones that hang there so I can grab them if I'm going somewhere that I wouldn't want to take a nice bag.

The Value Village one is brown and sort of like this one, but more like a rectangle with 4 distinct sides.  The piping started to come out on one of the lower corners and Coach fixed it new-condition for the $55 cost of shipping.  And let me tell you, when I walked into that store with a bag that big they were more than happy to let me play with/try on each and every bag or jewelry piece I wanted!

Also, Nordstrom had a Kate Spade sale the other day, so I picked up an amazing wallet for $100.  It's fantastic and I'm in love with it.  I just wish I could afford Kate Spade more often.
