So none of the students ever yelled "Airball"? Sure.
Not sure how much better I can explain it. You seem determined not to get it. The school rule was "FOR <name of school>, AGAINST no one". There are plenty of ways to cheer and plenty of cheers to yell without even mentioning the other team or their performance. I witnessed it all the time. The kids had more spirit than any school they played. All they did was cheer FOR their friends. Sure they tried to cross the line once in awhile, but it wasn't permitted and they reeled it back in. The kids had tons of fun and no one thought a thing of it. The rule has been in effect since the early 60's at least and possibly before. It's a Catholic school, so decidedly not liberal.

So what? Just because that is your school's approach doesnt mean the whole world has to follow suit.
I never said anyone had to follow it. Just saying that some people have been doing this for years so it isn't a "new" thing. And also that it isn't a "liberal" thing.
