Yes, I've had the same problem with several motor homes. While insulation is recommended don't use foam, it will melt especially if you put it on the underside of the affected area. We ended up fashioning a metal heat shield between the manifold/head pipe and the body/floor pan. Then on the interior add as much insulation as you can beneath the carpet and on the sides of the engine hump. Be careful not to use things with plastic components that might melt. Even though your side might be reduced to a comfortable temperature the side of the insulating material next to the metal parts of the vehicle may be too hot to touch.
