Good luck there. We get a sprinkling of snow maybe once a year. Now rain, don't talk to me about rain. We get mudslides and all that.

Good thinking, Ed! Saves your back and your heart.
My brother sent me a photo of a Baltimore suburb - the snow is above the top of the tires, almost to the bottom of the rear view mirror. I don't envy him the work he'll have to do once the snow stops.
Momma, a friend of mine sent me pics of their house in the Baltimore suburbs, even after 2 feet fell, no street plow had been by. They will all be stuck for a few days.

Math at 4:30 in the morning is dangerous. I figured out that my savings plan for 2016, with the dimes, is going to become unsustainable. In a couple months, I'll be putting in $20/day. And the month of December will require an addition of over $900. I'm going to need to rethink this plan.

This is like the 'Model T Ford Speed Question" :
Your old Model T can accelerate at 1 mph per second. You are entering a freeway from an on-ramp. Traffic is very light.
How fast will you be going after one minute? Two minutes?
Want to know the answer?
Spoiler
Guess first ...

The original plan I saw was using pennies. You put 1 penny in January 1st, 2 on January 2nd, etc until on December 31st you put in 365 pennies (or $3.65). Following the plan you would save over $600 for the year. I decided I wanted to save more, so was going to use dimes. I didn't realize at first how hard that would be since it's not evenly spread across the year.

The top design speed of the Model T was 36 mph.
At one minute, the speed could be up to 36 mph.
At two minutes, the car would have been run over by a Hummer or a truck, so the speed would be zero.

It's 34 with a real feel of 31 and 0% of any precipitation.
The skies are clear and blue and the sun is pouring over everything.
Going to 45 today.
I do not envy anyone having to deal with the snow. I really feel for yall.
Hope everyone has a super day.

Have 10% deducted from your check if you can afford it, and have it direct deposited into a money market account. It is out of sight yet still liquid.

I already do that. Alwyas looking for more ways to save more though
DD followed a savings plan where the first week of the year you save $1, the next week you save $2, and so on until the last week of the year you put away $52. She used that as her Christmas spending money.

Do it on a weekly basis rather than daily and just go up a dime rather than doubling? One dime a day the first week; two dimes a day the second week, 3 dimes a day the third week. By week 52 it will be 52 dimes a day or $5.20 a day. For all of December that should equate to.....
$34.30 Week 49
$35.00 Week 50
$35.70 Week 51
$36.40 Week 52
$141. 40 for December, which is more doable.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Sorry for all you snowed in folks. As a kid growing up in Chicago we rarely had snow days. We were prepared for it. But it was always fun when we got the rare snow day. One year we got so much snow it was overwhelming. My dad had to go up on the roof and snow blow it so it wouldn't collapse under the weight. He made a slide from the roof to the front yard. We climbed the ladder on one side and slid down the other. Ah, those were the days.

I think every kid should live through a big snowfall. It can be magic!

As adults we all hate it. No doubt about that. But yes. As a kid it's magic.

There was one place, I can't remember where exactly, but they had a "sun day".
It's where they have so few sunny and warm days, they will cancel school and close businesses so everyone can enjoy it.

Took the boys out to play. I felt the urge to shovel so I did that for a couple hours. Did half of the driveway, almost all the way up. Half, because the other half was the boys sled hill. DH made a "luge" down the side and the boys have been having a blast. Neighbors came over, too, to play with the boys. I think we'll all sleep well tonight. I figure I'll be real sore later.
Sounds like a few of you are enjoying the magic of snow! Good for you!
Quiet day for us. We needed one.
Enjoyed the movie last night with DD and a few of the grand's. We all had a good time. DH stayed home with the two youngest. They kept him busy the whole time we were gone. It was good for him. :)
He's on the couch "watching" the game with his eyes closed.. lol.
