His base is swayed by nothing. After the early states, it might get closer as a lot of candidates drop out and their voters pick someone else.
Trumps base of around 30% or so of the voters will be enough in early states. As the field narrows, it might take 40%, or even 50% to win (if the filed narrows to just two). It will be interesting to see if he picks up enough votes if they see him as the "inevitable" candidate, or if Cruz or one of the "establishment" candidates can get those votes.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

To be honest, I'm not sure trump can get the presidency even if he's the nom.
However, people are sick and tired of the "establishment" which Hilary would represent. Obama, by contrast, represented "hope and change". Hilary now represents more of the same--and hopelessness.
It only takes a few votes in a few swing states to turn the election.

I agree with all of this.

I actually kind of agree. I think he'll do well in the early states. I highly doubt he'll get the RNC backing. I don't think he'll make it to the White House. I loved Romney and voted for him. My DH swore he would make it but I knew he wouldn't.

they'll have to back him if he gets the nom--although it will make them choke.
their guy is bush--who will need a stunning turnaround to get it. I don't see it happening. People are tired of politics as usual. If it's not Trump, it will probably be Cruz.

I just don't see them backing Trump. They don't like Cruz because he doesn't do what they want. He doesn't cower to them. Bush is a nobody in this election. There's no way they can back him and win. Depending on how things go I think they may have to swallow their pride and back Cruz. Although, I can see them going with Rubio too.

They'll have to if he's the nominee. They won't have a choice because there won't be another candidate to back.

The establishment ruined Romney's chances last time because they refused to go vote. I hope they learned their lesson, but I'm afraid they haven't. I actually know someone who is establishment, a delegate in fact, and she's already said it's Rubio or no one. Some are starting to show curiosity towards Cruz.
The establishment would prefer Rubio. But gop voters want Trump or Cruz. At least right now.
Yeah they would. That's the truth. Here's one problem with Trump. His numbers have stayed the same basically. They've gone up a little bit but not huge amounts since the beginning. All the other five billion guys that are running are really super conservative. When their candidate drops out I don't see them backing Trump. They'll go to Rubio or Cruz.

If by that you mean GOP, they wanted Chris Christie. They started a year ago here with pushing him using the NH GOP group to pump Christie. They first started with Bush but soon saw the writing on the wall. The GOP is dead as a party but the only way to run if not a liberal.
