Spring has been teasing us for the past few days.

We've been in the 70's, during the day.

I hope the trees don't get faked out.wink

And, I hope Spring comes early, for our Geeks to the North!smile

I really don't like the cold, but we need a good hard freeze for several days.

The mosquitoes are going to be incredible this summer if it doesnt.

I know what you mean, Lily.

We are still fighting wasps, mosquitoes, and ants.

We haven't had a cold spell long enough, to kill them.cry

(And, I hate the cold so much, I'll put up with the bugs, if you know what I mean.)wink

Good morning all. 65 degrees on February 1st. No wonder I can't kick this darn cold with this strange spring like weather.

Don't know if I feel well enough to go in to my volunteer work - if I'm not there, the guests don't get to play Bingo, which they love. I'll see in a couple of hours.

NJN - I hope your dog is doing better. I didn't have a chance to post about it yesterday, but I was trying to keep up with reading. I hope they can find out a way to keep her safe and comfy and seizure free. And hopefully it you can get some sleep too. I will be thinking about you today.

The blizzard has begun. Snow is plastered to the windows. Yup, it's Groundhog Day.
Oh, good morning.
I'm still miserable with this cold.

We got that storm. I'm ready for Spring!

Got my car smogged, gassed up, tried on some clothes I received, cleaned out a closet, cleaned Fluffy's toilet, swept out the garage (okay, I used the blower), put a load of laundry on, and got work done. It's a productive day so far

Morning everyone. I'm back at work after my week off. I woke up sick on Saturday. My throat felt like I had swallowed razor blades. It is a little better now it feels more like knives. I haven't eaten anything more solid than mac & cheese. I'm getting tired of soup.

And Maggie finally came home on Sunday. Not the Sunday after the storm but a full week later. I had given up on her. Some nice person must have taken her in or at least fed her because she wasn't starving when she got home.

Ugh!  Not what I wanted to hear.  It sort of gets better for a while & then start hurting again.  Cream of chicken cup a soup seems to coat it.  I've been drinking a lot of it.  I'd hate to know what it's doing to my sodium levels.

You might try a swallow of Maalox to coat your throat.

The last time my throat felt like that (Okay, it felt like I was breathing ground glass, which is similar), it was from tear gas cry .

I hope you can get sleep and feel better soon.

I have never tried chai tea.  I like plain black tea & have been drinking a lot of it.  It doesn't coat so much as wash the drip out.

Chai tea is made of spices - the spices will coat your throat.  There is actually a tea called "Throat coat".

Lexxy, 1 tsp Benedryl and 1 tsp of Mylanta or Maylox.

Mix, and gently gargle.

It'll coat, numb and help heal.

Chai tea (tea tea, lol) worked wonders when my throat was messed up. The Chai tea latte from the coffee shop worked even better though.

Thanks.  We were told this was a possibility when they first started but there was no way to tell if they would get worse or not.  She has not had another seizure since DH took her to the vet yesterday am.  She's now on daily phenobarbital.  She scared us yesterday because she barely moved.  She slept almost constantly.  But we called the vet and he said that was normal. We think she may have sustained some brain damage or memory loss.  She has a hard time walking or running.  And we are having to take her out on a regular basis because she doesn't seem to remember to go to the door when she needs out.  Overall, she seems a bit confused and startles easily.  Otherwise, she's doing okay at this point.  It breaks my heart to see her this way.

Sorry there are so many sick people here.  Being sick sucks.  Lexxy, try some chai tea.  It's really good and does help.

Thanks.  You're not here on the weekends.  Sunday morning she started having seizures.  She had about 11-12 in a 24 hour period.  They told us they were cluster seizures.

They were ok this morning at home, but the school was eerily quiet - you could hear a pin drop.  We'll see how the day went with grief counselors and such.

Tomorrow will be hard for DD11 - she usually tutored this girl on Wednesdays after school.

No.  They said it's just like a human.  They can't know what causes them they can only treat them.  When she first started having them they said she was at an age comparable to when most humans have their first one.  All they can do is treat them.  She will now take the phenobarbital daily for the rest of her life.  We had delayed using it because it has a lot of bad side effects.  We had her on Melatonin and had gotten them decreased for a long time.  Then something happened and her poor little brain let loose.

I can't even imagine losing a child to seizures. I feel horrible watching my dog go through it. To watch my child go through it would be impossible. And to lose my child to it would be horrendous. I feel so badly for those parents.

How awful.  I'm sure she is scared & disoriented.  That poor girl.  I can't remember if I told you back when it started that I had a ferret that had seizures.  It is terrifying to watch & not be able to do anything.
