What?  Why?  What on earth would make him think snakes were cute?  Couldn't he turn them into bunnies or even turtles?

Snakes ARE cute. I like snakes, and would catch them and keep them as pets.

I'm not one of those "jumping on a chair and going Eeek!" women.

Any more seizures, NJN?

I am so scared of them.  They are cold and they feel slimy to me.

Slimy? They're not the least bit slimy. When was the last time you held one? They're not eels, you know.

My very avant guard 2nd grade teacher had 6 garter snakes, that she'd allow us to hold in our desks on a rotating basis. They're not at all slimy - just cool to the touch. It was fun to hold them while they moved their "feet" . It was always a contest as to who could take them home for the weekend!

DS is in his room for naptime. Today is the first day he's getting to actually use his big boy bed. He's been going to bed real good lately so we figured we'd give it a shot. He's in his room playing rather than sleeping right now but he keeps going to his bed and getting in. We put a baby gate across his door so he can't get out. The game plan is that the baby gate will stay up till he falls asleep then will be taken down so when he wakes up, he can just come out. For night time, we have two gates that we will "stack" one on top of the other to avoid him climbing over the gate. We have the gates positioned so that they would fall into the hallway rather than into his room if he manages to dislodge one or both.

#2's night started out a little rough with throwing up once then coughing up mucous a couple hours later, but then he slept until around 5. I went in and did some chest percussion and both boys went back to bed until around 7. He's staying home this weekend to rest. So #1 is at taekwondo with DH and I'm going to the funeral alone later. They won't be going to #2's classmate's birthday party tomorrow either. #2 doesn't get sick as often as he used to, but when he does, it's usually when we have the most fun planned. (Christmas vacation, parties, etc.)

That seems to be the case, doesn't it?

We have a wonderful vet.  DH called them Monday morning the second that they opened.  They agreed to see Carlee immediately.  She was given an oral dose of phenobarbital and a shot of Xanax.  DH was sent home with a script for pheno and two shots of Xanax.  When he walked in the door with her and set her down she started seizing.  But they had just come from the vet.  We didn't even have time to give her the PRN Xanax.  She has not had another seizure since early Monday morning.  She seems to be doing really well.  She's still suffering from some loss of coordination and is nowhere near as peppy as before.    We're hoping that it will even out over time.

And Layla is highly allergic to grass. Yes, a dog allergic to grass. We had almost weaned her off her off her allergy meds over the winter. Then they came out and cut our grass and the dummy rolled all in it. Her eyes and mouth are swollen and her legs and belly are broken out in hives. The hair around her eyes has fallen out so now she looks like a raccoon. We put her back on her meds. We're giving her prednisone too to try to get it under control.

Making brushetta tonight. I've already picked and chopped up the basil and infusing garlic into the olive oil. Took the dog for a long walk. I've done a lot today, even brought in enough wood for a few days, which I am going to need since we are forecasted to get slammed with back to back snow storms starting Monday. My back is sore, so just going to hang in tonight.

I hope everyone starts feeling better. I have a few friends who have a virus that is going around, comes out both ends, sounds nasty. Blech

My neighbor's son had a stroke, a mild one. That is why their driveway wasn't cleared. I am so glad I did it. He is my age, so hits home! I was taking the dog for a walk and she came out and asked if I knew who did it. My other neighbor was there and made me fess up. Anyway, also glad I got it done last night, the sun today has melted the little bit left on the driveway and so their driveway is nice and clean.

You are a sweetheart. I bet they love having you for a neighbor. smile

Hope their son recovers fully.

Probably not. many of us are over worked and under appreciated. I am technically part of upper management, so I try to express my graditude as often as possible. it doesn't mean as much from me, but I try. we all know things are going to improve, we just have to hang on until then. our market has already started to show small signs of recovery, so it's coming. I was talking to a coworker and said our company is lucky they have found a group of people so committed to getting the job done and getting it done right - even if it means 60+ hour weeks for us

I have left work for today, meeting my parents for dinner instead of cooking. I'll go back to the office tomorrow. I have at least 3 hours of work that needs done before Monday. I just wasn't up for staying forever tonight. I'll start fresh tomorrow

And that is what a company in the beginning stages of recovery needs.  It really is their only chance at survival.  It can fail, or it can pay huge dividends in the future.  You are young enough, I suggest you take the risk.

Good plan on leaving work, whatever work you need to finish up will go so much more smoothly after a break.

O4, do you know any place that has the golden anniversary cake knife sets?

I can't find any that we like.

 Let me look...

I don't want to spend a whole bunch on it.

I think about $40 is good.

 Lemme think....

That sounds delicious but at the same time it makes my teeth hurt.

There are pickles and pretzels and coffee and tea and milk.

 Oh my....

All you sick people get better and stay away from me in the meantime. I am not sick, have not been too sick this year (just the sinus thing from Vegas dry air and smoke).

I think we found our new shed. We are going from a 6x6 tiny tin shed to a 10x12 insulated vinyl one.

Lily, just last year, we finally cleaned out the last of my grandparents stuff. There was 50th anniversary stuff in there.

You could also check out some local thrift stores too, if you don't mind second hand.

I remember eating maple sugar candy as a kid. YUMMY.

Yes, I got a lot of fillings.

Yeah, when I had snakes and lizards, I had to go out and buy crickets. What a bloody racket they made!
