I give myself B12 shots in the butt all the time.

I always have shots given in my butt. I hate having sore arm much worse.

How are you feeling, welts?

O4, you never did tell the story of how and why you fell yesterday. Curious minds need to know. ;)

My mouth hurts. The pain meds aren't helping. I can't eat.
Between the gastro and now the oral surgery, I'm going to be a ghost of my former self.
What a diet plan!

I should be doing it in my arm or thigh, but I just can't. Butt is easier for me.

I give shots to others all the time, but giving them to myself is harder. I don't like to see the needle going in.

I'd make a lousy junkie.

Same here. I have no problem giving shots, but I can not give them to myself (shudder).

DH gave me intramuscular shots in the buttocks during IVF. Once or twice it felt like he hit a bone. Ouch. What helped me though was sitting on a heated, vibrating pad for about 15 minutes after each shot. It made a world of difference. Unbelievable.

I gave shots to myself in the abdomen. It was an insulin sized needle. No biggie. And this coming from a girl who was deathly afraid of needles. What I wouldn't go through to procreate.

Thanks, but I rarely drink alcohol. Especially with pain meds. Really Bad Idea.

I did have a glass on New Year's Eve.

I know you are the Russian that doesn't drink vodka!  But hopefully some soup or broth or as Flan said maybe a smoothie.  You need something in your stomach with the pain meds.  Especially if it is Vicotin which dentists here love to prescribe.  That one makes me vomit.  I always ask for Percocet instead.

I can take codeine on an empty stomach, no problem.
It's the NSAIDS, like Advil, which put me in the hospital twice, with uncontrolled haemorrhage, blood transfusions and Last Rites.
That was....unpleasant.

Happens all the time.

“Conservative calculations estimate that approximately 107,000 patients are hospitalized annually for nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)-related gastrointestinal (GI) complications and at least 16,500 NSAID-related deaths occur each year among arthritis patients alone. The figures of all NSAID users would be overwhelming, yet the scope of this problem is generally under-appreciated.”

americannutritionassociation.org/newsletter/deadly-nsaids

I took two doses for shoulder pain, and ended up with holes in my esophagus, stomach and duodenum.
Pooping and vomiting blood. I came very close to dying, because they just couldn't stop the bleeding.

This is all true.  DH asked the doc yesterday for 800 mg of Ibuprofen.  She wouldn't give it to him because of this exact reason.  She did give him 600 mg.

I have to do B12 shots too. Mine goes in my thigh. PCP asked if I want to do it myself or come it once per month for them to do it. I said I'd do it myself. She asked if I was sure because she's had lots of patients say they can do it themselves then find out they just can't. DH calls me Rambo when it's time for the shot because I just stick it in and be done with it.

It really changed my life.
I remember looking out the window, being in the worst pain of my life, wondering if I was going to die, and there were cars going up the hill.
It was morning rush hour traffic, and drivers were impatient, honking and yelling.
I told myself that if I ever get out of there, I won't let the little things like that get to me. There are worse things. It was a life lesson that served me well.
Now, if I'm in traffic, or faced with other not-that-important stressors, I just think back to that and laugh.

We're expecting a deep freeze later this week with highs of minus 22.

I'm not complaining. Last winter was a T-Rex of a winter. This one has been great so far. Mild.

Well, I survived tonight's dinner! My Eastern Star chapter "feeds the Masons" before the meeting, and this month it was my turn. My sister and I decided on mixed short pasta with a meat/onion/green pepper/tomato sauce and lots of Velveeta cheese casserole, garlic bread, romaine salad with Tequilaberry dressing, and 4 desserts. 15 Masons attended, and we made $120! (They put money in the kitty, and the head of the Lodge makes up any short-fall to make it at least $100. This is one of our on-going fund-raisers.) Its not easy cooking "off-site", but I was extremely grateful to have help during the clean-up! I got the dressing recipe from ShannonNK (old MM thread) and pre-dressed the romaine lettuce, with 3 extra bowls containing chopped tomato, shredded sharp cheddar, and thinly sliced scallions. The guys really liked being able to customize their salads.

TEQUILABERRY SALAD DRESSING - from ShannonNK
1C mayo ¼C sugar ¼C milk 1# bacon - crumbled 1/2 head raw cauliflower - grated fine 1½C shredded Parmesan romaine lettuce
Mix all, pour over greens, toss well.

For dessert, I offered Texas Fruit Cake, mini apple pies, apple bites, and cinnamon flops. I call them "flops" because they didn't look at all like the picture in Pinterest, and the butter melted and ran all over the oven, burned, and set off the smoke detectors at 11:30 at night - poor DH didn't know what was happening! Taste was "meh" - but they looked interesting. The apple bites were apples, peeled & cored, cut in 8 wedges each, tossed in sugar/cinnamon, then rolled in 1x5" strips of pie crust, baked on parchment paper at 425 for 10-13 minutes.

The mini apple pies were just finely diced apple, sugar, cinnamon, butter in regular pie crusts put into cup-cake pans - the guys really liked them.

DH was such a sweetie - he stayed in the living room, so he could see when I arrived home, and get to the car right away to help me get the left-overs & pots/pans etc. into the house in one trip. What a keeper!
