Except for Lilly who ignored her parents' teachings but yet doesn't allow the same for her own kids. Go figure.

You act like a person can't learn or change.

Yes. I broke the law.

I paid for my crimes.

The courts have deemed my debt paid.

But let's deflect from the subject at hand.

That's what happens when you run out of arguments.

And, in your situation, making a mistake didn't have fatal consequences. In this instance it does. I totally respect that you own up to your own mistakes. We all should. But, neither am i navie to think that if i just TELL my kids, that they will NEVER make a mistake. And, that's fine if they make mistakes but i am certainly going to try to make damn sure they don't make fatal mistakes.

 No.

I'm saying as a 10 year old, I feared the repercussions of my actions.

As an adult, I done something stupid and paid the price for it.

Do you think if I had grown up with helicopter parents, I would have realized what I did was wrong or would I have blamed everyone else for my actions?

You like throwing my past in my face.

Yes. I broke the law.

Not at all.  If she leaves loaded guns laying around, then it isn't projecting.  Sorry but  I find it incredulous that a forgiven Christian who has fallen from Grace seems to have some delusion that children are also not fellow sinners capable of sin and stupidity.

Good God.

I'm saying I could leave my kids alone and worry about them killing each other.

I'm saying I can leave a loaded gun propped in the corner and not worry about my kids messing with it.

I'm saying I didn't cripple my kids by treating them like 2 year olds all the time.

You say it depends on the child.

You say a kid can't cross the road by themselves.

You bounce back and forth between talking about a 2 yr old and a 10 yr old like they are one in the same.

They are not.

And what I did as an adult has nothing to do with my parents.

I didn't break any laws or really get in any trouble until I was on my own.

It was MY fault. Not theirs.

They taught me better and I did better as a child.

As an adult, I made a poor choice and I paid for it.

Your premise is that my parents are responsible for my actions.

No.  I didn't say any of that schit.  I said it "depends' when a kid can cross the street.  Some younger kids can.  Some cant'.  Grown ass people should be able to understand that.  Yet, even with your Christian upbringing you screwed up.  Fine.  But, what if the "screw up was your kid pointing a loaded gun and shooting a neighbor"?

If you want to consider that insulting, i truly apologize.  As i said, i respect you.  However, i also KNOW that i am a less than perfect person.  That ONLY through God's grace am i forgiven.  And, yet i also understand that other struggle, and fall and make mistakes.

Think I'll build a rec room for the kids.

Rough cut furniture, held together with rusty nails. Make sure the wiring is exposed and throw water around everywhere.

And leave a massive amount of loaded guns, coke and ready to go on every surface.

And I'll build it across the road!

May even put a gas leak in there as well. Give them some matches and Roman candles too.

Why is is that the laws of almost every state disagree with you?

In the United States, the minimum age at which a person can receive a learner's permit varies by state, ranging 14 to 18 (minimum age in Alaska is 14).

Unlikely because MOST parents don't leave loaded guns laying around. For those of you who pretend to believe in "personal responsibilty", it is quite hilarious how you then just decide, I am not responsible for my own loaded gun!

They are both tools.  Neither one can be used without an operator.  And I consider SELF DEFENSE to be just as important as toting your butt to work or the mall.

Guns have been around for centuries and kids were taught to use them and respect them. The main change? Kids are not respectful and fearful of their parents rules anymore. You should be able to leave a gun sitting right next to a 10 year old, and if you tell them not to touch it - they damn well better not touch it!

Of course, you have to start young, and with other things. But your kids should know that no means no.

You can't fix stupid.  But you can't punish everyone for a few people's stupidity.

A 10 year old doing this is not even remotely the same as a toddler having the opportunity to do it.

So no one should own guns? You don't get to tell others how or what to do with their guns.

One is too many. Just like one car accident or one fatal poisoning. Accidents are going to happen and if the adults are negligent then arrest them. You DON'T get to tell others they have to do as you do. Sheeesh!
