They had to dig out pieces of it and he had no hip structure at all.

 This looks like a million dollar product liability suit. I worked for a company that sold defective implanted devices. 

The statute of limitations varies by state, but that shouldn't be a problem if the family gets a good malpractice lawyer now.

I think sometimes people think of driving like it's a video game, not thinking that there's NO RESET BUTTON and no re-start button.
