We're celebrating Valentines today with our kids.  Heart shaped meatloaf.  Except Sparkly doesn't like meatloaf so we're taking a chunk of the meatloaf and throwing it on the grill in a patty shape.  I made red velvet brownies and peppermint and espresso marshmellows.  SS is going to help me cut them tomorrow.  I've got their goody bags all ready.  And even a present for the newest member of the family, Ava.  Making mashed potatoes and gravy, peas and corn.  We should have fun.  We bought SS a big old popcorn bowl and filled it with popcorn, a puzzle, a dinosaur, a little plaque that says "Dude, you're the best." and some snacks.  The older kids are getting beef jerky and nuts.  (What they requested.)  I tied them into bunches with ribbon and big old heart that says "Don't be a jerk.  Be my Valentine."  And "We're nutty over you.  Have a happy Valentine's Day."  They'll like it.  We got them all cards.

What a special day you have planned!

Yesterday, I pretended to be a bear & hibernated. Now I feel less sleep deprived/depraved & more like a functional human being.

DH finally went to the doctor (just a bad cold), and got a note so he can go back to work Monday.

I need to go out this morning and pickup a card and something for DD, I think an iTunes GC. It's really all she wants. I am going to hunker down today, other than that. The temps are just too cold to be outside, with windchill we are in double digit negative temps.

Take a pic of the newest member of your family, SB!

I am NOT going to work today! I will need to go in tomorrow, but no work today. My dad and I are going to disassemble the old TV so we can get it out of the house. The thing is huge, it is taller than me and weighs way more than I do. So, it's going out in pieces. Then, tonight, I'm having a couple friends over to try out my new TV. We are all single (or divorcing in once case) so we are celebrating valentines day together.

Some people from work went out last night. I went to dinner with them and came home. My friend texted me at 12:30, and then a couple "hello?" Messages when I didn't respond. I was sound asleep, man, I'm old lol

Compared to them I am, they're all in their 20s lol

I'm usually on the couch either asleep or falling asleep by 9.  I blame my IH and people don't make fun of me as much lol

I'm usually falling asleep on the couch around that time, too. But I can't blame age...I did that in my 20's.

My kids are calling it Singles Awareness Day.

I call it my brother's birthday.

It was always more about his birthday than Valentines anyway.

Which is totally fine with me.

Maybe that's one reason it doesn't bum me out like it does some.

Got the kids some goodies yesterday.

A little chocolate heart, some caramels, some sour Gummi worms, skittles, Starburst, a long stem chocolate rose and some party poppers.

Three, full gift bags for less than $20.

Yes. I'm happy about that.

It's cold here. Temp says 30 but it feels 19.

I'm so ready for Spring.

You can make her a Valentine's card without leaving the house, and you can get an Amazon GC (or probably an iTunes GC) online, also without leaving the warmth.

Just got home from shopping.

We were almost out of bagels, and the shop can be counted on to have them only up to 11:00, unless you don't care what kind you get.

Also needed a couple of things from the grocery store.

Home  now and warming up.

At Spouse's request, I got a new microwave oven a couple days ago. Can I call that her Valentine's Day gift?

Oooh, do they make them in a wood-burning oven? Montreal is famous for bagels. Some shops churn them out 24/7.

They get pretty busy around 4 AM. That's when folks are coming home from bars and clubs, and drop in to buy a dozen or two for the morning.

I hope they get there before dark.

Actually, I hope they get there today!

One delivery driver called once and said he couldn't find my house number.

He was on a street with a similar name, 5 miles north of here.

Either he was fibbing, or he'd been driving up and down that street for almost two hours. cry

I'll take you to the French bakeries and restaurants, the shops which make hand-made chocolates, the phenomenal cheese shops, out for our famous smoked meat sandwiches and poutine, and of course, the bagels. They're hand rolled and poached in water with honey before being baked in a wood-fired oven. Delicious! Our bagels even went up into space.
Oh, and we'll have to hit the festivals.
What stirs your soul? The biggest jazz festival on earth? Comedy? Fireworks? Circus Arts? Foreign films? Beer?
If it exists, we have a festival for it.

Tv is in and working! It's so pretty!

A friend was supposed to come over tonight, but she hasn't returned my texts. I have this mostly irrational fear that she is upset with me that I didn't go out with them last night and was asleep when she texted me at 12:39am. She's dealing with a lot of family issues, so it's silly for me to worry she's mad at me. This is still a hold over from my ex. If I didn't return his text within 5 minutes, he was furious with me. I'm still conditioned that way somewhat.

Just got through with the Bake Sale - made close to $100 - not bad for a small town.
The girls/young ladies who make up the Royal Court (Ambassador, Princess, two Little Misses) did a fine job - baked the cookies, decorated cupcakes, and were enthusiastic about selling them. Me? I'm just tired! Lugging the canopy, tables, chairs to the site is not my idea of fun for an old lady.

Slight change of plans. Three friends were to come over tonight. Two aren't feeling well and one has decided it's too cold to leave her house. I will still be getting my Chinese take out and watching my new TV. Catching up on the current season of Bones on Hulu right now.

Oh, and hanging out with my Geeks!
