Police: Teen loses arm after robbery goes awry in Brooklyn
February 13, 2016 By The Associated Press
Authorities say a 17-year-old had his arm torn off after a man he was allegedly trying to steal sneakers from hit him with a sport utility vehicle, pinning him against a fence in Brooklyn.
WNBC-TV says it happened Friday afternoon in the Canarsie neighborhood after the boy arranged to meet a 39-year-old man to purchase a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.
Authorities say that once the teenager was inside the man's car, the boy pulled out a gun, took the shoes and walked off.
This whole story is messed up. Pulling guns and running someone down with a car over sneakers worth maybe $200.
And that's too much money for sneakers anyway.

The driver might have been thinking, "This felon needs to be stopped, so I'm going to stop him" or "I'm going to hold him for the cops" ...
but it was too late to justify the use of deadly force in self-defense. Too late.

I believe it was more that the driver was POed at the audacity of the kid to just walk off with the shoes and consequently, did not think much of anything....

He didn't use deadly force. The kid didn't die.
An eye for an eye, an arm for some shoes.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

Deliberately hitting someone with a car is using a deadly weapon, whether or not the target survives.

So what's the solution? Let all muggers get away? No way would the police ever find this guy--IF they even tried.

If he'd robbed me at gunpoint, and I HAD a gun, I'd have shot him without a second thought. But I'd make sure I shot him in the front, not in the back. A bullet in the chest or forehead at close range will definitely look like self defense.

At least he still has his leg to stand on in a court of law.

Well, he still has his other arm so I guess it could be!

Color me cold but I have no sympathy for anyone injured or worse while committing robbery. No fvcks to give....
Me, either.
Yeah, me either. And I'm not PC so here I go. This is the ghetto and they wonder why they are treated like they are. They're killing each other over a pair of shoes that's probably not worth $20 much less $200. But their priorities are so screwed up that they don't care. But of course, the rest of society is supposed to bow to their causes. Black lives matter to them only when a white cop takes it. If the blacks spend the weekend killing a hundred of themselves over stupid chit they don't care.
