We put out nine trot lines Thursday afternoon, and ran them Friday morning.
The legal limit is 25 blue catfish per person and 5 yellows per person. By the time we had run the 4th line, we had our limit!
As we continued to run the rest of the lines, we had to separate them by size - anything smaller than the biggest 50 we had in the boat got released back into the water. We put back at least 50! We're going back tomorrow to catch some more!
I'm jealous. I love catfish. And I love fishing.
Not familiar with trot lines, though. I usually buy some worms at the corner store and take the boat out.
Welts ~
A trot line is tied between two stationery objects (trees, posts, etc.) with 3 weights to keep it submerged. "Dangling" bait hooks are attached every 4-5 feet, so a 20' line would have five hooks. They are usually left overnight, and "run" first thing in the morning, to pick up the catfish.
