Exactly. A person with a psychology agree is no more qualified to give psychological advice than a person with an art history or political science degree.

Then what ARE they qualified for? You make no sense.

Is it an undergrad degree? What education do you think a therapist has? It's not an art history degree.

flan

Well, you tell me.  What does a pyschology degree qualify you?

Entry level whatever position that will give you on the job training.

Kind of self-evident, I would think.

I have an MLS. Guess where I work?

flan

So, then you are a Librarian correct?  Sooo, if you got a degree in Pyschology, why not be a pyschologist?  You are kinda proving my point!  LMAO!

Psychology is a name in only degree.  It's the degree favored by athletes because, while a degree, it really means nothing.  About 60% of the resumes we receive each week are from applicants with a psychology degree.   Since you have to declare a major to receive a degree, it's one of the popular ones to declare.

I can't paste the study, but this says:
Phycology is in the top 3 most popular degrees and in many states, the most popular degree. It's a catch all...

Human Resources.  All of our HR people have Psychology degrees. It's not required, but STRONGLY suggested.

Psychology as a career: To call yourself a psychologist, you must complete at least a Master's degree and normally a PhD in psychology. This applies both to research careers (e.g., university professor) and becoming a practising psychologist.
2.Careers open to Graduates with a BA or a BSc and in which psychology is relevant: Both the knowledge base and skill sets acquired through the baccalaureate programs provide preparation for a variety of careers. The following is a partial list of fields in which bachelors level graduates have employment.

◾personnel
◾labour relations

◾social services
◾gerontology

◾technical writing
◾health services

◾corrections, probation, parole
◾fundraising

◾marketing and public relations
◾mental health

YOu don't need an additional nursing degree or certification?

Absolutely! But the Bachelors in Psychology helped immensely.

DH's son majored in psychology. Believe it or not, he's actually using his degree.
