I don't have one. Really isn't important to me. I still have the charm bracelet I got for being in my uncle's wedding 45 years ago.

I hate them, too.

I loathe charm bracelets.

Go to Walmart. They sell Hallmark charm bracelets. My oldest son bought Pandora for his GF and the charms are ridiculous. He asked me for money and I said no way in heck i am paying $50 for a freaking charm. My younger son is much more money savvy. I said, buy her a Hallmark one at Walmart where the charms are only $10 bucks or so. That's what he did. Smart kid! LOL!

You get what you pay for.  The Pandora charms are silver and gold, not plated metal.

I don't consider it overpriced.  Many of them are beautiful works of art, and since they are silver and gold, they will hold value.

I see no difference between a $50 charm and a $10.

Doesn't matter.  You don't have to own one.  But I love mine, so I'll just hold to my opinion.

And, i won't. Everyone spends on things that are important to them. You work hard and earn your money so buy what you like. But, as i said i am not a jewelry person so i really don't know good jewelry from bad.

Let's just do a basic visual comparison -

Connections by Hallmark:

Pandora:

Although, I do also do the Brighton bracelets and charms. Those are cheaper than Pandora and nicer than Hallmark:

I am not sure that is a fair comparison. Depends which charms you put on.

It does.  I was trying to stay with the family theme and some of the basic Pandora charms.

These are pretty -

So, I have a Pandora story. Monday, my friend P and I were getting a charm for our friend E. E & I got P the birthday cake charm for her birthday and they got me the birthday cake charm for my birthday, so we wanted to get the same charm for E. We called both local stores that carry them and held it at the one that had it. When I go in to get it, she's like "we had a man come in and by this exact charm today and now this is the last one, good thing you held it. Whose card do I need to put it on? (the store keeps a registry for you). When I told her, she's like - "that's who he bought it for!". We were ticked! So, then I picked another charm, and "he bought that one, too!". What the f???? We're going to kill him! We finally decided on another charm, but I was sad b/c we really wanted to get her that cake charm.

The charms from walmart fall apart.

Caitlyn was given one for Christmas. It was a pretty cross with blue stones.

She put it on with her Pandora charms.

The difference was stark.

And a few weeks later she had to take the walmart one off.

The stones started falling out and then it broke.

The charms are pretty. I just don't think they are affordable for teenage boys to buy teenage girls.

I didn't know we were talking about teens.  The bracelet is $65 and the silver charms start at $25.   And during the Pandora event the end of this month, you can get the bracelet for free when you buy $100 in charms.

No. I guess not.

But $10 that falls apart in a couple weeks is not a value either.

My DD was given a Tiffany's necklace from her BF for her birthday. Way more expensive than a Pandora bracelet.

And I agree with LGS and FWM. They are not my thing. It seems like they are the Italian charm bracelets of this decade. A fad that will pass and one day be "so yesterday" that anyone who wears one will be gauche.

Some people value jewelry and cherish it as an investment. And, some jewelry is obviously better than others. I tend to view it as more of a consumption item. You use it for awhile and then move on to something else I like better. To each his own. But, i think girls go through a charm bracelet phase and then most of them move on. So, i can't see spending hundreds of dollars on that. But, then again you wouldn't spend hundreds on what i spend on so it's all good.

But those were all the rage back when. And Pandora is the same thing IMHO. 10 years from now, no one will wear them any more and they will be relegated to the jewelry box.

Pandora saved our little local jewelry store. It was about to go out of business when it got the Pandora contract. Now it's 75% of their business and draws in people who buy the other jewelry, too.

What I like about Pandora is, it is something just about everyone can have.

It can be in any price range.

And the lower priced pieces are just as quality as the higher priced pieces.

Caitlyn has the white leather bracelet. It was maybe $30.

Charms can be $25.

It's just a prettier product.

That's because that word doesn't mean what they think it means.  Gauche means lacking grace or socially awkward.  It describes behavior.

Exactly.  Other people choose to wear things all the time that I wouldn't be caught dead in.  Of course, I don't go around being a jerk enough to tell them that, though.  That would be gauche.

And thanks for the thread Southern Belle - looking at all these dang Pandora bracelets, I've found at least 6 more charms to add to my wish list.
