Dr. Ben Carson endorses Trump
Permalink

Ben Carson officially endorsed Republican frontrunner Donald Trump Friday morning in an appearance with Trump in Palm Beach, Fla.
“I’ve come to know Donald Trump over the last few years. He is actually a very intelligent man who cares deeply about America,” he said. “There are two different Donald Trumps. There’s the one you see on the stage and there’s the one who’s very cerebral.”While introducing Carson, Trump said that having his support lends credence to what he’s trying to do.“Everybody wanted his endorsement and everybody loves him and truly, truly admires what he’s done,” he said.

The endorsement may come as a surprise to many of Carson’s supporters, since the mild-mannered, deeply religious Carson is a vivid contrast to Trump in terms of style and values. But a Carson adviser told Yahoo News Thursday that the retired neurosurgeon — who for a short time last fall led the field of Republican presidential candidates — sees Trump as the only candidate remaining who is not part of what he often called “the political class.”Carson believes that the political establishment has ruined the country, and is throwing his support to Trump because the businessman and reality TV personality is best able to disrupt the status quo.Carson was also angered by some of the tactics employed by Sen. Ted Cruz. For example, a number of Cruz’s supporters tried to undermine Carson on the night of the Iowa caucuses Feb. 1 by telling them that Carson was pulling out of the race.

No. I lost all respect for him because I believed in Ben Carson. I liked who he was and what he stood for. I LOVED the fact that he had morals and ethics. I have read his book and watched the movie about him. Up until now I have had such a deep respect for him. He is someone I would want my children to emulate. He was the person I wanted to see take the nomination but I was also smart enough to know early on he would not.

Donald Trump is not someone I want my kids to emulate. I don't want them to speak like him or use language like he does. I would never want my kids to do some of things that Trump has done. (You can argue with me here and I don't care but not everything Trump has done has always been on the up and up.) Trump is not someone, IMO, worthy of being admired.

When Carson endorsed Trump, FOR ME, that was like saying I don't mind throwing my values away. Simple as that.

I admire him even more now (maybe VP?) because he stayed true to what he said about not wanting politics as usual.

As someone who personally knows Trump, he likely has better perspective than our armchair political pundits.

And that may be but I was asked my opinion and I gave it.  I don't know Trump nor do I care to.  So my opinion stands.  And that's all it is.  My opinion.  Which is what I said in my original post.

From day one I loved Carson.  I also said he would not make it all the way.  He doesn't have enough experience in the arena yet.  I have also said that he would make an excellent VP.  DH believes he would make an excellent Surgeon General.  I feel that if he spent some time as a VP he'd have the experience and insight to be president.

Donald Trump has some issues but he is still the most likely candidate to get America back on track. If he had Ben Carson in his ear he might learn a little self control when disagreeing with someone.

Bernie just a few days ago:

"When you're white, you don't know what it's like to be living in a ghetto," Sanders concluded. "You don't know what it's like to be poor."

Trump isn't perfect. In fact, sometimes he's a jerk. But, he's the right man at the right time. If he addresses Trade, the economy and illegal immigration then that is hell of lot more than anyone else has done in decades.

"Tell you another story, I was with young people active in the Black Lives Matter movement. A young lady comes up to me and she says, you don’t understand what police do in certain black communities. You don’t understand the degree to which we are terrorized, and I’m not just talking about the horrible shootings that we have seen, which have got to end and we’ve got to hold police officers accountable, I’m just talking about every day activities where police officers are bullying people.

So to answer your question, I would say, and I think it’s similar to what the secretary said, when you’re white, you don’t know what it’s like to be living in a ghetto. You don’t know what it’s like to be poor. You don’t know what it’s like to be hassled when you walk down the street or you get dragged out of a car.

And I believe that as a nation in the year 2016, we must be firm in making it clear. We will end institutional racism and reform a broken criminal justice system."

Shortly afterward, a meme featuring a quote from the debate appeared on social media:

While the image does show a real quote from Bernie Sanders, it is (like just about any quote that gets turned into a meme) lacking necessary context. Regardless, Sanders detractors shared the image, mocking the senator both for using the word "ghetto," and insinuating that white people could not be poor.

Sanders supporters responded by sharing their own meme, which criticized the media for taking Sanders' quote out of context:

The second meme, however, also also left out some important detail and nuance, such as the fact that Sanders used the phrase "when you're white" in his response. This meme also attempts to frame Sanders' quote to make it appear as though he was simply repeating what the Black Lives Movement activist had told him.

Transcripts and video of the debate are widely available online:

The date after the debate, reporters in Detroit asked Sanders about his use of the term "ghetto":

“What I meant to say is when you talk about ghetto, traditionally what you are talking about is African American communities,” Sanders said.

Really? You really are in a smaller-ish area.

Here, it isnt uncommon to be the only white person in a room.

I think it's because of all the manufacturing plants.

Carson's endorsement of Trump is the biggest endorsement of this election season so far. And it is making that downward spiral of the GOP that much faster. They are shocked and in disbelief. I love it. As I have said before, I really like Carson he just is too passive to be a leader. Rather than VP I would rather see him hold a cabinet position, one that can really affect the betterment of this Country.

Because you live in Vermont and in the sticks so you don't have a ton of people living in tight quarters so you wouldn't notice.  Also you live in an area where generations of farm owners live and have for a very long time.  Not many black people own farms in Vermont because the farms are owned by large corporations or have been in families for generations dating back prior to equality.  Your circle of friends and such are probably farm related in some manner.

Yup.  Which again is just more of the same from Dems constantly looking at skin color to compare people.  They are OBSESSED with race.  But, i guess it is a great way for the Dem party to try to divide people which is their modus operandi.  We all ceased being Americans a long time ago according to  the Dem party who has been trying for decades to split us into factions, groups and tribes.
