Free speech means the government won't punish you for what you say, within reason.
Protesters can't shut down free speech because by definition, they are utilizing it.
Now, if the government booted someone iit because of protests, that is different and a bit more gray.
So what is the actual story here?
Whatever happened to if you don't like someone is saying, then don't go hear them talk, turn off the TV or whatever? lol. They can't stand it to let someone else air their speech! LOL!
It wasn't as big as the media would like us to believe. They cleared out, but the media kept showing the same reel over and over, making it look like it was lasting all night.

I know. That's just what they do. But, I dont have a problem with people protesting. Stand outside with signs and scream and shout. But, I was listening to the radio the day before and one of the organizers said the intent was to shut down the event, not just protest while the event was going on. Two completely different things. And, the host of the show so you can't abide by Trump exercising his free speech to which she had no answer.
Freedom of speech is NOT freedom from consequences. If Trump’s hateful nonsense is so offensive to people that they don't even want him in the city, that is their right to say so.
File this under 'well what did you expect to happen'.

Freedom of speech is fine, Trump is on board with that. These people were rioting and acting with violent behavior. That is not "speech" that is violence.

When a similar situation occurred during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, The police arrested many protesters even though they were Vietnam vets who, IMHO, had a lot more to protest against then a bunch of butt hurt people who don't like someone.

Yeah we used to protest wars. Now, we don't want someone else to talk. Uh huh.

Yep. They have the right to peaceably assemble - not do that. But we know, we know....double standard for the liberals.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Yup. If they want to be violent and destroy property and intimidate people, they get a pass. Talk about a bunch of damn hypocrites. Well, guess what? We aren't backing down to your bullying crap. Wah, wah. Call us all the names and labels you want. That worked for a long time because people feared being labeled as something they are now. Well, you have all cried wolf so darn much that you have unleased the sleeping bear. We aren't going to take it anymore. And, hey if you want to go burn down your own community, then go for it.
Just leave now. You can get a head start. Maybe you can meet up with Welts and have a mooseburger.
Why so much hate for the mooses? They don't even get to vote.

They said some people there were angry about how the media panders to Trump. They said the media fawns all over Trump and won't give the others a fair shake. To a certain extent this is true. I have heard three different reporters say they give more air time to Trump than to the others because he's the front runner. And they weren't all FOX reporters. So I do understand how those people feel. They are saying the only way they can get airtime is to protest at the rallies that get the most coverage. And look, IT'S WORKING. Also, people seem to think that only Trump supporters are angry about the situation the US is in. There are many many angry people that are not voting for Trump.
I am against the violence. Period. End of story. There should not be violence. But let's be honest too. Donald Trump has fueled some of this himself. He may be joking around when talks about shooting people on fifth avenue but a leader, a true leader, knows that people will reflect your behavior. And while he hasn't ENCOURAGED people to be violent he sure as hell hasn't DISCOURAGED it either. There are several charges in the process right now about his campaign staff manhandling people. What I find appalling is that the same people who constantly bitch about Obama dividing the country like he has are the same people who cheer Trump on while he divides the country even more. Be assured, if Trump becomes president we will have war.

Trump should have called it a job fair instead of a rally. None of those losers would have shown up...
He already called someone at his rally a loser and told them to get a job. He took a big hit on that. People were flambaying him. He was giving a speech about bringing jobs back to the US and how he knows people can't get jobs right now and then he yells at a protester to go get a job. The reporters were like "How can you say that?"

It was funny actually because it was Hannity. And he and Hannity have been friends for over 15 years. Hannity backs him and supports him. I have never seen Hannity say a cross word to him. But when that clip came up Hannity said, "How do you know he didn't have a job?" Trump admitted he didn't know but just assumed anyone who wasn't smart enough to support him wasn't smart enough to be employed. Then Hannity said, "If you're campaigning on making the economy better and helping people get jobs why would say it was so easy for this man to just 'go get a job'?"

I watched a really good documentary last night. He's a vicious, vicious control freak, and the people who know him best say he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near America's nukes.
The Fire Breather : The Rise and Rage of Donald Trump
He has launched often vitriolic attacks on minorities, Muslims, women and pretty much anyone else he wants – and yet Donald Trump’s popularity just keeps on climbing. He is leading the race to win the Republican nomination and his next victory, he hopes, will be the White House. Bob McKeown joins the campaign trail for a disturbing look at an ugly side of America and why Trump may be winning.
