Or, black lives matter or anything like. Canadians in general seem to be very critical of race relations in America. So, my point isn't to anyone in particular but to the fact that it is easy to throw stones over the boarder when you are as homogenous as vanilla ice cream.
It's funny how liberals always want to censor people. This is a political comment. Sorry you don't like it but that is what it is. If you want to call for that, then i will start calling to have your annoying opinions censored as well.
Whats with the Canadasowhite hash tag? Am I offended?
I'm quite certainly it's a result of an argument with the other Canadian on the board.
Good to see you Tig!
Hi! Its good to be seen! Life has had me by the tiger-tail for the last few months but things seem to be letting up now. I've been managing a full time job, two practicums, a thesis and school, and it will all come to a screeching halt on April 30th. I just have to hold on till then!
I think that hashtag should be removed. Regardless of it's origin, as a standalone hashtag it's in violation of the racial speech rules of this board. To come in and see it was shocking. Especially to not have the context. I figured there was backstory, and I guessed (apparently rather accurately what it was) but that doesn't make it okay for it to be a stand alone thing. It's icky.
You can DO IT! Wow!
I knew you were busy, but seeing it all typed out...

I don't live in Canada; Tig does. I respect HER opinion.
DH and I have the same mantra on tipping. We start at 20%. It often is more. We also let the manager know about outstanding service when we receive it.
If the service is absolutely horrible, we don't tip and we speak to a manager about the horrible service. It takes a lot for us to consider the service to be horrible.
We never fault the server for things that are not directly in their control. Wrong food, long waits, etc. are almost always not the server's fault. Stuff like not checking back is the server's fault as they are in control of checking back barring an emergency.
You aren't the Mod. It's a political statement. Like Oscars So White.
Good to know that you think only mods get opinions. Political statements can be racial. Racial statements are against the rules of this board.
Copied directly from the rules: If you are speaking in good faith, in a civil manner, you can express almost any opinion (other than hateful ones like racism)
I will not engage in further discussions of this with you. I do not engage in racial discussions.
Canadian is a race? Canada is predominantly white. There is nothing racist whatsoever about that statement other than what you choose to infer. And, i wasn't discussing it with you in the first place adn we weren't having a discussion. There is nothing about my signature that is violating any policy.

Hate speech - hate speech is an attack against a group of people for who they are.
Canada is not a race, nor is it a people. It is a land mass. The demographics are the demographics. That's like being angry at someone saying there are a lot of Asians in Japan. Duh.
And everyone realizes the tip amount is calculated based on the before tax sub-total, right? You don't need to tip based on tax.
I do. It's so easy in TN. In my county and several others, tax is 9.5% to 9.75%. Double the sales tax amount, round up, and you have roughly 20%.
They were saying about the suggested tip amounts don't seem right, but they SHOULD be based on the sub-total. Our sales tax is only 7%, if you double it, you don't even get 15%.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Be careful with the tip amounts given on the receipt. They're sometimes inaccurate.

They are also sometimes well in excess of what the server actually deserves.
If I am alone or the restaurant choice is mine, I actually won't eat anywhere that does "gratuity included on bill" tips. I've found in my personal experience that places that do that quite often have waitstaff that's less than stellar, and quite often deserving of only 10% (or less).

I. for one, have NEVER thrown stones over people who rent rooms or live in apartments. Not once.
No matter how easy it is.

Gratuity included on bill is different than the tip amounts being listed on the bottom of the receipt. I was talking about the latter.
I agree that gratuity included is sometimes more than the service merited.

If a restaurant includes the tip in the bill, you don't have to pay it.
