Nassau police are searching for two men suspected of robbing a car and cellphone from a Roosevelt man early Sunday morning.
First Squad detectives said at about 6 a.m. two men, ages 28 and 27, were standing outside the In and Out Deli, on Nassau Road, when they were approached by two unknown men.
A “physical altercation” followed, and the two suspects took the 28-year-old man’s cellphone. After the two suspects indicated that they had a weapon, he ran from the area.
The two suspects then ordered the 27-year-old man into the 28-year-old man’s car, which was parked in front of the deli, and waited there with him, police said.
Soon after, the 28-year-old victim returned to the scene, and was ordered into the car by the two suspects. All four drove off, but the two victims managed to escape from the car near Milburn Avenue and Harold Avenue in Hempstead.
The iPhone 6 and car — a blue 2014 Nissan Altima — have not been recovered, police said.
One suspect is described by police as tall with short cropped hair and a mustache, and wearing a black sweatshirt. The other suspect was short, with a mustache and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black skinny jeans and a red Detroit Red Wings hat.
