We ordered a new King Size Mattress. I got the Englander brand cuz it's flippable. Most of them aren't and I like having that option. But, what kind of sheets? Egyptian cotton, microfiber, satin, etc?n

Sheex are worth every single penny. We love them. We have three sets of them.

Definitely cotton, I get at least 700 hundred thread count. Also, make sure the weave is a tight one, thread count means nothing without a tight weave. They are the most comfortable and last the longest. I don't get the sheen kind, or microfibre or satin or sateen. They pretty much suck.
I've bought from overstock and have gotten some top quality sheets. I will spend $100+ for a good set.

I love Egyptian Cotton but it tends to wear out quickly.
A good, high thread count, cotton sheet is perfect for me.
I've give up colors too.
I like white sheets and towels.
As for comforters, I like my quilt.

I'm not sure what my favorites are made of, but I got them at Tuesday Morning, of all places, probably 13 years ago. They are soooo soft, don't wrinkle, and have stood the test of time. I do remember they were a very high thread count which was why I got them.

I despise when sheets wrinkle.

We bought (2 sets) sheets and a king size quilt at Bed, Bath and Beyond. The sheets are a tight weave and I think a 500 or more count. The sheets wrap under and around the whole mattress. I love them. They don't slide off, well, not on my side. DH manages to dig in and pull while he sleeps.
I bought the quilt before I started quilting again, so it's been about 3+ years ago and the sheets are as nice today as they were on the day we bought them.
All together it was a lot of money. Well over $400.

Old fashioned Wamsutta Supercale! Yeah, I know, they needed to be ironed, but with an old-fashioned mangle (electric ironing machine), they were done in no time flat. You ironed them while they were still damp, and they came out so smooth and cool, they wouldn't even bother a severe sunburn!
The micro-fiber sheets start to "pill" after about 10 washings, so that's super annoying.
Haven't been able to find real bed-spreads in the last couple of year. Lots of comforters, but no real bed-spreads.
One of the best inventions imagined are the "bed suspenders" A 10" length of elastic, with garters at each end. You attach them to a fitted sheet diagonally across the corners, and they tighten up the fit of the sheets, and prevent them from pulling out from under the mattress. Especially useful if you have a regular depth mattress rather than a really deep one.
I prefer cotton, which is good because that's usually what the motels I stay in have. I wish they had higher thread counts though. But that would probably cause them to raise the prices, so I guess lower thread counts is a compromise I need to live with.

Our friend's gymnastic team does a sheet fundraiser every year. $30 - any size, and they are wonderful sheets. LOVE them.
That's an interesting fundraiser. Never saw that done before. Is there a particular brand they do that with?
Yes. I forget which, though. And the thing is that everyone reorders because once they try them, they love them.
I think this is the one -

It looks like you get to set the price - they suggest $35-$40, in the past, I've bought them for $30. If you sold them for $34, you'd make $10 a set after shipping.

I used to use flannel in the winter but now that I'm always hot I don't anymore. My sheets are Sleep number brand. They are a cotton blend. They were pricey but I've had them almost 15 years & they are still in perfect shape. They only offer them in white or ecru but I died one set lavender.
I have a flannel duvet cover. I use it without any comforter inside it as a light layer of warmth in the summer. I use it in the winter too but I have other blankets on as well.
I will use either cotton or microfiber sheets. I cannot afford the high thread count cotton sheets, so I buy whatever is on sale. I like sheets with designs on them; solid color sheets are out. I don't spend much time sleeping or laying around in bed (I have a twin size bed that is nearing 20 years old), so as long as there are sheets on, I am good to go. I mainly use a fitted sheet and a pillowcase. I do not require any covers and sleep without any, as my bedroom is usually warm. The fan is always on while I am sleeping. It never really gets cool or cold in there.

I can't sleep without a cover. Even if it's a hundred degrees and humid. I have to at least have a sheet over me. I don't know why.

Me, too, Empy. It's a security thing, I think.

Well. Sleeping without cover is almost as dangerous as letting an arm or leg hang over the edge of the bed.
Everyone knows that's boogie man territory.

i feel naked without something on top of me, plus it serves as a barrier between me and the dog.
