Now is the time to let others take care of YOU!!!
Hope your recovery from the first surgery is rapid, and that you regain all your strength and vitality.
Rest when you can, and know that we are all thinking of you and wishing you well.
Cheers,
Momala
I saw Ed again today. He has looked better. But he definitely looked improved from Friday. His sons are helping out with his wife, who needs a lot of attention. I heard Ed speak nicely to his wife, maybe things are going better for them.
Ed will need recuperation from this chest surgery, then the kidney surgery.
He is glad the folks here are sending good thoughts.

Thank you for the update, aergia.
I'm glad you were able to visit with Ed again.
Sending more good thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

One would hope she would take this opportunity to become more self-sufficient and help with the care her husband will need.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I cannot imagine what you are going through, Ed, with chest surgery and then kidney surgery almost immediately following. Thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way for a quick recovery...

I do hope that when he goes home he doesn't hurt himself by not taking care of himself. His first priority should be him for a change.

Ed, you are a very special person. We're worried about you.
I have suggested that he may opt for a short stay in recovery facility to help heal for a few days-week after the kidney surgery.
i have also sketched out what things may be expected for him to be safe at home.
He will consider whatever help is made available to him.
This is a rough transition for the family.
I briefly met one son last night. We had not met before.

I'm sorry to hear about the surgeries Ed. I hope you have a quick recovery. I agree with Aergia that you should consider a recovery facility. It will at the very least be less stressful. And it will make it impossible for your wife to have you doing her bidding. I think you should really consider it if insurance/finances will cover it.

Aergia and Lexxy are spot on!
A short stay in a rehab facility will do wonders for you, and you won't have to stress about your family. Your sons can look after their Mom for a short while.
The food in most rehabs is generally much better than hospital food, and you can even order in, if you have a hankering for pizza or Chinese, etc.
If a rehab facility is not in your plans, consider hiring (short term) a home health care aid. They'll take care of light housekeeping, making your meals, making sure you get your meds on time, etc. Not sure what the agencies would charge now, but back in the late 90's, it was around $15-$20 per hour.
Ed is having another chest procedure today. No need for gory details.
This is to help the healing, reduce his coughing and move him closer to discharge.
It may be some painful...so good thoughts will help.
