While I was walking around in the hospital attached to my IV pole, one of my thought was,

"Dogs don't understand 'LEASH'".

The docs have me continuing with an anticoagulant, so no sharp blades.

I shave with a couple of electric shavers. No bleeding.

I used to cut my own hair, when looking like a "hippie" was okay. Even cool.

 You're STILL cool!

I am hurting a lot less.

Still some discomfort on my left side below the diaphragm where the kidney was,

trying out 1/2 of a Percoset pill with one regular Tylenol, going to bed now. I'll see how it goes.

Sleep well my friends,

Ed

Staples are out !

Woke up and feeling itchy. My back scratcher helps.

It's too soon for more Tylenol.

It's 3;20, I'll just get back in bed and try to sleep.

I just slept almost 6 hour straight!

Time for Tylenol, but not desperate.

Yes, it sure feels like progress smile

The people running the study want ALL the hospital records. Working on getting them.

Can't get the op notes for the kidney surgery yet.

Pretty tired and sleepy today.

Signed up  to collect Social Security. They are going to send me money.

I hope this fatigue clears up soon. I'm beginning to understand why people retire. Yet, I sure hope I can get back to my job in another month or so.

Did I mention that I LIKE my job and the people I'm working with?

Applying for a handicapped parking tag.

I don't WANT to be handicapped. But then NO ONE wants to be handicapped. At least, I expect to get over my problems.

Good to hear from you, ed. Sounds like you are getting things lined up for the long haul of recovery.

Now remember, once you recover fully, you can go back to work, get the SS stopped and return the handicapped parking tag. GOALS!

Should Ibuy some chocolate? or maybe pizza?

I'm continuing to lose weight.

I saw this morning that, for the first time in years, neither of my calves are swollen.

The edema didn't bother me, my doctors over the years found no notable cause or adverse effects, other than my calves were swollen.

This morning, nothing. Normal.

My weight is down 3 pounds in the last week.

I am eating a normal diet ( low fat, low salt, low/no sugar). I'm still 19 pounds over my target weight ... but still.

I might just eat more, but much of the time I just don't feel like it. Small portions seem to be enough.

I am supplementing with Glucerna. But Hershey bars definitely seem attractive .

We have fun size Hershey bars in our candy jar out in reception should I get you one Ed? I've never liked plain old Hershey bars. I like nuts & caramel & stuff in my candy bars.

I'm glad your edema is gone & you are down a few pounds.

Yes, thank you Lexxy.

I've got egg foo young ordered. Pretty good, but not chocolate.

Finally got my hair cut today! Last time was about a week before I went into the hospital. It was (I think) longer than when I was in grad school, surrounded by hippies and rebels.

(Picture a time of communes and free love, and a LOT of students had pretty long hair.)

Also, I now have a Handicapped parking tag to hang from the rear view mirror.

Once my doctor faxed the DMV form back to me, it took a quick visit to my local police department.

Haven't parked in handicapped parking yet, but it will be helpful when I finally go to Costco and/or Walmart.

Actually, in a Prius one doesn't exactly start the engine ...

but I understand what you're saying.

No driving with the view out the windshield blocked.

(Hmmm, in the Prius, the huge pillars in the sides of the windshield already create big blind spots. cry )

After everything you've been through, you should treat yourself to some real chocolate, not Hershey bars..

You deserve it.

I know exactly what you mean. I can feel fine for an hour or two or three, then I'm wiped out, my left side hurts and I need to lie down.

If / when I go to Costco, I will take one of their electric carts.

There's only one thing on the shopping list that has to come from Walmart, and pre-washed sugar snap peas can just wait.

Follow up visit with my chest surgeon next week,

he gave me a prescription for a chest x-ray to get done before then.

Spouse has been hounding me to call the local radiology place to make an appointment, like I will need to get squeezed into their schedule.

I kept telling her, it's a 5 minute thing, when I call they will say "Want to come in right now?"

She thought it might take a week to schedule.

So I called yesterday.

Guess what they said ...

Report on the chest x-rays will take a couple of days, but I looked at them, and they look normal to me. smile

Then I went to Costco, and home. Time to rest.
