I drank once at work, but technically after hours. Someone had brought us beer and it was in the fridge. A co-worker and I were working alone that day, and it was busy beyond belief. We worked our asses off that day, and when it was over we broke out those beers and just chilled.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
The OP was berated for bringing religion to work. So, IMHO, the drinking takes place at work. Otherwise she wouldn't have been called on the carpet for her comment.
Having ONE drink at the end of the day on Friday would not be out of line, IMO, but if some are getting drunk, then no. The OP still should not be berated by her colleges for declining a drink. Being berated for not drinking is harassment.

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.

At work--but not necessarily during work hours.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

Then the employer can not berate her if they are "off" hours. Simple, IMHO.

Of course they can. They may not be within their rights to do so--but that is irrelevant.
People want to talk about what should or shouldnt happen, or can or can't happen here--rather than focusing on what IS.
Of course they shouldn't tell her to leave her religion at home in reference to this. No one should pester her about drinking. No one should call the other woman a pill popper behind her back--yet that is exactly what did and is happening, and there's no magic wand to wave to make it go away.
