I had no idea Easter was this Sunday. I only realized that this past Sunday. Yesterday I went shopping for Easter stuff. The older kids are getting Starbucks gift cards. SS is getting popcorn and cheese crackers. We're dying eggs on Friday. We won't have SS. Kind of irritated at DH about that.

Our Easter menu is:
Ham
Mashed potatoes
Sweet potates
Green bean casserole
Corn on the cob
Rolls
Carrot cake
Blackberry cobbler

My mom hosts Easter. I am making asparagus and Deviled eggs. DD also wants to make cupcakes, so we will take those up as well.

Same here. I thought it'd be something to do while DD is off school.

It snuck up on me. I don't know why. DN and Sparkly are both off Friday so they're coming to do eggs too. DN is like a child with coloring eggs.

I'm not real sure what we will be doing.

May just put some burgers on the grill.

I'll try to get the kids a small Lindt bunny.

If that.

They are all old enough now, they don't expect anything.

Mom and dad might or might not be back from their trip.

I know we will go to church if my knee is better.

Looks like we will be on our own. It's still hard for us to prepare anything.

We will see G's daughter though. She totaled her car last week and is coming to get our extra (that would be my Z). I'm not real excited about that, but she has to have a car until we find her another one...

We always have a back up car too.

Sometimes it's nice other times it's a bare bones vehicle.

Me and Caitlyn really loved the old 74 ford ranger.

Sometimes we drove it for fun.

I got egg shaped Starbucks cards for the older kids. DS makes soap so I bought him the stuff to make soap and had him sink the cards in the egg shaped bar of soap. They're going to have to work for that coffee!

We are taking Gordito to an Easter Egg hunt at church and then I will probably make a very small spiral sliced ham and some sweet potato biscuits. Not sure what else.

The Easter bunny will come, of course. I left him a sign this year, though, kind of like this -

Hope he doesn't get offended!

No.  But I'm sure it's good.  We have shaved ice here with flavored syrups.

Not the same thing at all. You pour hot syrup onto clean fresh snow, then roll it up on a popsicle stick. You end up with kind of a maple taffy.

Welts, that actually looks good!

I am going to DS's for Easter. He has to work, DGF is going on vacation, so grandma is needed as backup.

I'm making an Easter basket for little DGS.

I will leave a big Easter basket here at home for DH to give to the rest of the grand's on Sunday. DD will be cooking dinner for her dad this year. I am not heart broken to pass the task on to her. ;)

We will all go to church somewhere, just not together this year.

We are taking MIL to one of the better restaurants near her. They are serving buffet style with gourmet food. Leg of Lamb, Tenderloin of Beef, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Tangerine-grilled Salmon, Crisp Roasted Duck, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. That is only half of the menu. And the building is historic as the Inn has been in service since 1714.

You can do that with the syrup I sent you. biggrin Canada does not have a monopoly on the real stuff.  As a kid we used to do that, if no snow available we would pulverize ice from our freezer.

Mahi mahi, flounder, tilapia, cod, sometimes swordfish, tune if cooked medium-medium well, and almost any form of crab. probably a few more, mostly mild whitefish

and DH is allergic to shrimp and lobster.

Not a big fan of tilapia. It's too....soft....if that makes any sense.

Cod I don't eat because I once bit into a piece and it was full of worms. It's a very wormy fish. Or, rather, prone to worms.

I adore tuna, but seared on the outside and raw on the inside. Sushi grade.

Our Bell Choir is ringing on Sunday - have to be there by 9:30, which means I have to leave the house no later than 8:00! Not happy about that. Making ham, acorn squash, fresh whole green beans, and something for dessert. Might make p-nut butter fudge. Made some for the Chili cookoff cooks' party - a whole 9x13 pan of it disappeared within seconds!
