I knew you could do it.

I had to sneak Itty bitty's basket out of her house. The one I gave her last year was wire filigree with plastic "jewels." She didn't want to let it go.

We are taking MIL to one of the better restaurants near her. They are serving buffet style with gourmet food. Leg of Lamb, Tenderloin of Beef, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Tangerine-grilled Salmon, Crisp Roasted Duck, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. That is only half of the menu. And the building is historic as the Inn has been in service since 1714.

The tangerine-grilled salmon sounds really good.

Confession, I do not like salmon.  I have had it several ways and I just don't care for it.  I will eat it if there is literally nothing else.

I am looking forward to the lamb, duck and crab cakes.

I love salmon. Do you like any fish?

Mahi mahi, flounder, tilapia, cod, sometimes swordfish, tune if cooked medium-medium well, and almost any form of crab. probably a few more, mostly mild whitefish

and DH is allergic to shrimp and lobster.

Not a big fan of tilapia. It's too....soft....if that makes any sense.

Cod I don't eat because I once bit into a piece and it was full of worms. It's a very wormy fish. Or, rather, prone to worms.

I adore tuna, but seared on the outside and raw on the inside. Sushi grade.

The cod statement made me gag......if I did eat cod I never would again.

I get enough protein from chicken & nuts.

Who even thought fish could get worms?

They're called cod worms and they originate from seals.

I cannot click that link right now. Maybe not ever. But right now my lunch is almost done cooking. I won't be able to eat it if I see pictures of worms.

Mmm rabbit stew.

Back on topic. Plans have changed. Reservation at 7:15 is too late for MIL. I am cooking. Simple menu.

Ham
Mashed Potatoes
Stuffed artichokes
Stuffed Mushrooms
HB Eggs

Our plans haven't really changed, just the number of people eating.

It was 9, then 4, maybe 6, probably just 3.

Oh well.

Gonna grill some burgers
Baked beans
Potato salad
Deviled eggs
Salad or burger fixings

Haven't decided on a dessert.

Banana pudding or maybe cheesecake with a strawberry reduction.

I did not know that about cod. I probably could have gone a lifetime without knowing that. While it was never my favorite fish, I did use it to make fish sticks.

For Easter, we go to the club for brunch. They have a nice spread, the Easter bunny is there, and there is an egg hunt for the kids. I might make something light for dinner, like soup, if we're hungry.

I have no plans on what I am doing or where/what I am eating.  I do not celebrate (I am non-religious and am not a believer) and rarely celebrate holidays in general.  My Sundays are usually spent alone.  Hopefully no jolts or surprises and just a regular day.

Once in a while I'd go to Midnight Mass, but I'm not a believer, either. I do it so my son would become more familiar with our culture.

Russian culture and Russian Orthodoxy are inperceptibly entwined.

I used to hang out and talk to Alexander Solzhenitsyn about his garden. He lived in Vermont, but went to our church. Cool guy.

If it was just dh and I, we would probably be grilling steaks. Since we have MIL, it is more traditional. No church for us but MIL will probably try to go.

Growing up, Mom was pretty religious (she almost became a nun). We would go to Easter Mass as the final event for Easter. Holy Thursday was confession and a mass. Good Friday was walking the Stations of the Cross from one church to another followed by another mass. Saturday was a solemn day. Sunday afternoon was the big Polish feast. Ham, kielbasa, pierogi's, babka, HB eggs, potato salad, two kinds of cole slaw, pickles, pickled beets, rye bread, white bread, candy, cookies, cakes, chocolates, more bread. Mustards and fresh horseradish were Most of the food were blessed when the priest came to the house. He blessed the house and each of us again.

Well DD has decided to not go with her Dad. She just wants to hang with me. Within minutes of her telling him this, he started emailing me threats. He is apparently not going to pay CS for a couple of months because he says he has overpaid, he hasn't. but oh well. Let the lawyer handle, it.

DH just asked what our plans were for Sunday. I told him I would cook dinner but that is about it. I don't want any other responsibilities. He agreed. Kids are getting cash for Easter and they are thrilled.

My plan for Easter is a big family dinner with relatives.

I don't sign onto the board over the weekend, so I'll take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy Easter! May you and your families be happy and safe, and may we all remember what this holiday celebrates (no, I'm not talking about stuffing candy in our faces!).
