DD can't decide at night what she wants in her packed lunch. So, i pack it for her at 600 am after she tells me she wants exactly the same thing she eats everyday! lol

LOL, MM. I can relate to that statement. DS is lucky to be alive, period. Hehehe

We do as much as we can for our kids and grandkids. Well, what they allow us to do anyway.

I give lots of hugs and kisses to the grand's. I tell each of the grand's that I love them as often as I can. We have special days of making cookies or treats. Will be coloring Easter eggs with the kids on Saturday.

DH is an awesome husband, dad and grandfather. He takes the kids fishing and on outdoor adventures. DH and DS plan days for watching football together. They have a very strong bond. DD talks to me on the phone a lot. I've always been a bit surprised by how much she likes to talk on the phone over visiting in person and that's okay.

Most of all, we give each other time, lots of time. We think that is very important. Time has a value and when you give time to the ones you love, they know they are loved.

We let THEM talk and we listen. It's amazing what kids think about. There have been many times we have been humbled by their insight.

I think it's hard to break it down as to exactly what we do, it's more of an accumulation of what we do together over time that counts.

Well it really comes down to that you don't kill them and allow them to live with you, doesn't it?

And Dead Kitty can be found under their covers if they really misbehave!

Different ways.

Of course I tell my kids I love them.

But it's other things, too.

Listening to them when they talk.

Giving them space when they need it.

Encouraging them, being there for them when they fail, praying for them and praying with them, letting them go.

Doing things for them without them asking.
Doing things for them that I know that they like, even if it's not something that I am a fan of.

Anyone can say "I love you", but if actions don't show the truth of the words, the words themselves are meaningless, even if the person saying them may truly love them.

I tell them I love them. Cooking their favorite meals. Lots of hugs and kisses. Little notes tucked away to be found. My grandkids live far away so making time every Sunday to talk to them on the computer. They love to tell me about school. I come from a very large family so there's always someone around to spoil.

I have an aunt, some of you may remember my talking about her. She had a stroke about 4 years ago and because she got help so fast, she did amazingly well rather quickly.

Well, she doesn't remember things like she use to.

From the time I was big enough to have a phone put to my ear, and anyone else in my family could, she called on our birthday.

Every single birthday. Would call just to say happy birthday and would ask what you did special for it and then let you go. The whole thing would take less than 5 minutes.

But it was every time, without fail.

Until she had the stroke.

Now, I know she still loves everyone just as much.

But she showed love by not forgetting you. She made it a point to remember.

There are a 1000 other ways and things she did. But that one is missed the most.

 My first thought, too!  LOL.

I tell them I love them, but more than that, I take care of them.  I'm going to be the grandmother that tries to ply you with food every time you come over as a sign of my love.  I listen and I pay attention to what they want and need.  My kids are spoiled in that everything they need just "magically" appears.  If my husband throws away a shirt, a new one magically appears to replace it.  My love language is "Acts of Service" and that's how I show my love.  My DH will sit and play games with them because his is "Quality Time", and while he's doing that, I'm making them dinner and cookies and doing their laundry.  I have to make myself stop and have fun and play with them - I actually schedule it in b/c that's not my strong suit.

I'm always there for my children no matter where they are. I flew overseas twice in one year because my daughter needed me. I would do the same for my son.
