OK, my dell computer bit the dust. And, i was a dummy and bought a warranty when i purchased it. Well Lo and behold it was still under warranty, lol. And, with a lot of phone calls and whining, they finally just paid me the full amount of the computer in the form of an Amazon gift card. So, here are the two specs. I dont' know a darn thing about computers so help me out:
DH (who works in IT) prefers an Intel processor over AMD. And unless you are doing a lot of gaming, 4 GB of ram is good. You can always add more if needed. But 1 TB is a large hard drive
Edited because I cannot form a coherent thought this morning

I would go with choice #2. You can always purchase and install more RAM later. If you are buying from Amazon, you get what is described. I have a friend whom I have known for 20+ years who is an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), and I ask his opinions on computer-related purchases. He also does my tech support. So far, he has not steered me wrong. He prefers Intel processors.
Hope this helps in some way.

Ok i am rethinking this. i might just buy 2 laptop computers instead of a desktop. i have been using my son's older desktop for the last 3 weeks and it worked out fine.
