That's true. There are some dead boards where nobody is allowed to make a 'controversial" comment. Most of those boards are dead. Like a few posts a day. There is no real conversation going on in those.

We seem to have a lot of great discussions here, in real time, which is awesome. I feel like i am talking directly to you guys which I am. So, it's not a huge board, so what? We have a nice family of members here.

The board was set up when MSN took their boards down. EE is Everything Else which is just general chit chat. YM is Your Money & they have serious discussions about money but they have a sub topic where things tend to go really off topic & is fun IMO.

I haven't been on Invisipeeps in years. Those people just seemed plain old mean.

Well, I just don't think you need sub-forums for topics. The titles of threads usually make it clear what the subject is about, and if you don't want to talk about it, then don't go on that thread. Easy peasy.

I will never understand KNOWING that topics are contentious, not wanting any part of it, but going on the thread, and then bitching about the bitching. I don't get it.

Exactly. There are plenty of noncontentious threads here. Like the Daily thread or the Let's Eat thread, etc. But, yeah if you go on a thread about abortion, then that's your problem. And, I seem to see that those who complain the most rarely or never start any threads on the noncontentious topics they supposedly want to talk about.

I guess i really don't see how someone can get all butt hurt over an anonymous message board or someone else's opinions in the first place. Yeah, sometimes i don't like what someone has to say. So what? I dont' know how that is some tragedy or something?

Those are subforums in the members only section for a reason. Privacy for pictures, and so games don't get lost in the shuffle.

I don't think we need subforums either. It is pretty obvious what topic the thread is, what is about and who started the thread. You can just look and see who started the thread as we all know everyone's political leanings. There are threads that don't interest me that much so i don't read or comment on them. But, i certainly don't go on them and then beitch that i don't like the content or tone .

Ugh, i have been on boards with lots of words games. THAT is annoying as snot. You have to wade past all those to find the real meat, lol. If i want to play word games, i will do so on facebook or whatever. And, yeah if you like games, then start a game thread. Not my thing. I actually want to talk about life and current events. Once in awhile, ok. But, if you like word games, then start some word games. LL isn't stopping anyone from starting topics of their choice.

Or how about starting threads on your OWN topics that YOU like? There's a thought? I LIKE discussing politics, religion, philosophy and many other 'heated" topics. Those of you who don't, why don't you start topics on gardening or sewing or Dancing with the Stars or any other number of things that interest yoU? I start topics on things that i want to talk about. Be it politics, reality TV or food.

You don't have to visit every store and you don't block the door and fuss at the ones who do go in.

I've been on many other boards.

Boards where the traffic is so slow it's really pointless being there, or boards with cliques and new comers were not welcome at all. Boards that were so heavily moderated it was like a preschool or boards where people acted like adults, talked about an abundance of topics and allowed conversations to flow.

Personally, I like the last board.

I have no idea what your problem is. I do stay off the obvious ones but don't even try to pretend that some members don't like to throw that crap into other threads. Sometimes the title & the discussion by page two have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Those are the ones I bitch about. I've also been here long enough to know that if it has hit page 4 it has turned into a bitch fest & I stay away.

I've not reversed my thinking on any subject discussed here BUT I have learned a lot of things, some informational, some cultural, and I like that. Hate contention? Most of you know that describes me and I just don't chime in when there's bickering, in spite of the fact that there are often Geeks on both sides that I've come to be very fond of. Particularly nasty posts hurt my heart, which is just a part of being me. Like Lexxy, I end up having to leave for awhile.

The most positive aspect of this board for me is I've come to know and like so many of our Geeks, and consider them real friends. If I had to choose the most negative aspect of this place, it would be nasty fighting/bickering within threads which should never have turned contentious - call them non-political/religious threads. That's when I run out of patience with the childishness/hatefulness I see at times.

Ending on a positive note - LGS, I love the man-bun but he seriously needs to trim his eyebrows... biggrin
