So. Working poor is something to be ashamed of?

Where did the definition say that? Oh, yeah, didn't.

Miners wore the red bandanas. Working poor.

No where did it say unemployed.

Working-class is nothing to be ashamed of.

Right? Do you think it should be?

No, it said poor and uneducated and bigoted.

The reference to the miners was from 1921.

I see no problem with men only and women only places.

Also, it is possible to find cheap haircuts for women without going to a barbershop. Great Clips does adult (male or female) haircuts for $12. The beauty schools in my area are often in the $5 range. Sometimes, my haircuts are free because I get DH to do them.

I've used the schools many times.

Indeed. I wish there was one near us that didn't require appointments. The one I used to go to shut down awhile ago. The one in the mall shut down sometime last year.

So basically this thread has devolved into name calling. No. Retarded is not the correct word used by educated medical professionals. They now use mentally disabled. This is the up to date term. I have mixed feelings on people using the word retard. I do know my SS's school made all the kids sign a paper at the beginning of the year saying that "retard" was a bad word, like a swear word, and they would be disciplined for using it. The papers had to be signed by both the child and the parent so the parents would know about it. I think a lot of kids in his school were using it in a derogatory way. Personally, and this is JMO, if you are using it to call an actual mentally disabled person a name I think it's wrong. To put them down using the word retard is just wrong. But often we use words that might be offensive but really aren't. For example, if you're goofing around with your spouse and they say, "You're such a retard. Did you REALLY just say that?" That wouldn't bother me. I know he doesn't think I'm really stupid. It's just an expression of disbelief. Now if he said something like, "Give me the checkbook, you know you're too retarded to figure out simple math." THAT would be offensive.

And let's discuss the N word. No self respecting black person uses it. I don't know of a one black mom that tells her kids it's okay to be called an N word. They teach their kids self respect. And that isn't part of it. Well, the good ones do anyway. The only black people who use the N word are the ones trying to look and act tough. Trying to garner respect. Rap singers and gang members. NOT the people you want your kids to emulate. That's why the majority of black families do not use that term.

And fag. I don't know what world some of you live in but fag IS slang for cigarette. But ONLY in other countries. NOT in the US. It's mainly in Europe that they refer to cigarettes as fags. Each country has their own slang. Just like in the US each region has their own slang. You, general you, are an idiot if you think you can walk down the streets of America and tell someone "I need a fag." and they'll hand you a cigarette. If you are walking down the streets of Texas and say that you'll probably get punched. They certainly won't think you're looking for a cigarette. Context people. Context.

So the doctors in Atlanta, where the CDC is headquartered, are not educated medical professionals?

This thread is the perfect example of why Trump has gotten so far. People are so tired of all the PC nonsense of constantly being offended over nothing. And people are REALLY not caring, anymore.

Some people need to really learn the concept of "backlash". The more you bitch and moan, the less people care.

But, among the "nonsense," there are valid points.

By the time the student is working with actual hair they have logged over 4 months of class time using dummies.

And they are under very strict watchful eyes of master stylists.

It really isn't a big deal.

For false teeth?

I think it's something a person doesn't have a whole lot of control over.

Ha! If I do get false teeth, my future grandkids can call me gummy instead of grammy!

You people are super brave to let a school touch your hair.  I go Master Stylist or none at all...

Well. It's not bravery for me. I simply don't care enough about my hair to shell out money for it. My hair is very thick and wavy curly. My "style" is bedhead. If it looks like I fell out of bed, it's perfect. You really can't tell if it was cut crooked. I've had DH, my dad, my grandpa, random friends, etc. cut my hair when I just want to trim it up off my neck and forehead. A beauty school student at least has some training wink
