You can meet up with evil anywhere. It might be easier to put a phony story upfront online versus IRL. But you don't know someone you have just met. When i first met DH in college, after our first date we went back to his dorm room to sit and talk. I didn't know him. Who knows what could have happened? You take chances in life. YOu try to be careful. We try to teach our kids to be careful. She went to a very public place to meet him. But, that is probably exactly what lulled her into letting her guard down and giving him opportunity.

I did online dating years ago. I only met a few guys. When I did I always made sure I gave someone all the info. Name, screen name, phone number, which site I met them on, where I was going, time I would call to check in. I also let the guy know I was giving someone all their info.

I've only met one guy online. On our third date he wanted to take me to his family's beach house about 2.5 hours away. I wanted to go but was a little hesitant. He offered to give me all pertinent information so I could give it to my brother. It never even occurred to me. I guess if he had been a sicko the info would probably have been fake but it made me feel comfortable.
