I've gotten to the point where I won't treat our backyard with anything.

That's where our pets hang out. They all like to munch grass from time to time. I don't want them to get sick.

We did notice some tiny bugs eating our herbs. So, we bought a bag of lady bugs and turned them loose.

They solved our bug problem.smile

Now, I will still put some weed and feed and fire ant killer on the front yard, since none of our pets play in the front yard.

I guess I'm getting more cautious in my old age.wink

Vinegar for weeds (directly on the weeds - it will kill the grass).

Plant (or pot) specific herbs to keep certain bugs away.

I have used vinegar when I get weeds in or grass in the mulch bed.

It really does work.smile

I've tried vinegar but it seems to take forever for the weeds to die. I'm more of a round-up gal myself.

I like Round Up for any weeds that we get in the cracks of the driveway or sidewalk out front.

I don't use it in our backyard.

But, it does the trick out front. And it is quick.wink

I really only use it on large areas. And even then, nothing beats picking them by hand after a good rain.
