When my kids went to sign up for band, a sax was like $800, a clarinet or trumpet was like $600, a flute was $400 or so.

I just said no.

I like this.  It keeps her in practice but gives her breathing room.  And hopefully at the end of summer the lessons won't seem like as much of a chore.

Rentals are $20 - $40 a month, depending on the instrument.  It's a perfect way to "test the waters".

well, when we were in elementary school and were signing-up for band there were nearly thirty kids wanting to participate--twenty-two wanted to play drums--was always interested in percussion but wanted to play trumpet and that's when it all got started

yes and have learned several other instruments along the way--trumpet, drums, sax, keyboards, bass, trombone, baritone and a couple of other brass instruments i like to have fun with
