 Cats hate tin foil.  It's how we trained ours to stay off the counters -we covered them in tin foil while we were not home.

Oh geez.

Well.

Freda is doing a great job with her eggs. And she has gotten more comfortable with us walking by.

There really isn't a whole lot going on right now that we can see.

Think I've seen dad a few times.

I wish it could mark them some how.

From the article I posted on page one.

Males only occasionally sit on the eggs, but they hang out in the territory throughout the daylight hours and respond immediately if the female gives a call of alarm. A male may even bring food to feed his mate, but usually she leaves the nest to feed herself.

Other pair bonds may be formed and last over several seasons. Doves, Robins, and others are on this list. Oftentimes, these birds are considered as meeting the definition of "birds mate for life". Even though their average lifespans may range from a year and a half to several years. Despite whether they mate again after one dies.

Contrary to popular belief, most of the world's birds are not monogamous, said University of Chicago evolutionary biologist Stephen Pruett-Jones. In fact, the females of some species are so promiscuous, they can end up raising three chicks from three different partners in the same nest.

Pruett-Jones said the females of many bird species essentially carry on "extramarital affairs" with partners besides the mate they stay with for life. For instance, a single female of the splendid fairy wrens found in southern Australia can engage in thousands of such liaisons in her lifetime.
Even though most birds live in a socially monogamous manner, they reproduce promiscuously," said Pruett-Jones, who has a doctorate in zoology from the University of California, Berkeley. "In fact, there are very few species that are monogamous."

The robins typically found in the Chicago area, for example, have a promiscuity rate of 30 percent. In other words, nearly one out of three eggs in a robin's nest is the result of a sexual transgression, so to speak.

I was enjoying it. I'm enjoying waiting for the chicks to hatch. I just got little chicks and I find I like baby birds but my grown up chickens can be little troublemakers. They really do have personalities.

Looks like she has kept all her eggs! Good for her!

We had a robin roll an egg out of her nest over the weekend. The grand's were so sad to see the egg laying on the ground.

I know why they do that.

If all the eggs have hatched but one, after a few days they get rid of it so the chicks don't break it.

Rotten eggs stink.
