You are probably right, FWM. They do have similarities. The dark red speckles made me guess sparrow.

Mom and dad don't want anyone around the nest now.

They are more protective now than ever.

They will fly at you and chirp at you now.

I am pretty sure they are fine.

There is absolutely no evidence of anything bad happening. The eggs are gone, no feathers except what was made into the nest. And look, not even any poop.

It's like they were never there.

That was fast. I once had a nest in our azaleas by the front walk and it seemed like they were there a little longer. Maybe not.

I really, really doubt it.

I don't think 1 snake would eat all of that and I think if any predator got to it, there wouldn't be a perfectly clean nest.

But I am curious about the eggs that didn't hatch.
