As far as her calling off for a few days, she is known for very rarely taking time off, coming in to work no matter what, so they can just give her a break.
Yes, people leave jobs all the time, and we all just have to learn to deal, but the rest of us in our regular jobs don't have to deal with those feelings on live TV. She needs a break to process, which is smart.
Of course we can disagree. Though The skeleton with skin comment while not nice was directed at a celebrity that we don't know. She didn't say all thin blonde women look like skeletons with skin.
I'm not getting bent out of shape b cause some of you disagree with me btw.
Someone saying whatever celebrity is fat while it's a sore spot doesn't mean I'm going to get upset and take it as an attack on me personally.
👌
Ok lol.
Wonder if things weren't to awesome between them behind the scenes? You never know. I rarely watch the morning shows since I'm usually at work but I will indulge in occasion during time off.
I liked Martha Stewart's show 😀

Wanna talk catty? It would drive me nuts to constantly look at and talk to someone with that huge gap in their teeth. What? They weren't paying him enough to go to a dentist?

I like the gap in his teeth. I say he leaves it alone.

Oh, hell no. Now you've done it.

Ok. Kiera Knightly's long incisor teeth have always been very distracting for me. She's a pretty girl and. A good actress but I just focus on those teeth!

I read this morning that they hated each other.
The on air friendliness was an act.
Well then it makes sense that he didn't give her a private heads up that he was leaving. When they were saying how close they were it seemed more hurtful.

Here's a link to the article, Lexxy. It's a little long to post.
Sounds like she's thinking about it. Or MAYBE, she's taking a cooling off period so she doesn't say something she'll regret.
This would be me. But it DOES look to outsiders that a person cooling off is doing the opposite; throwing a tantrum. Cant win for nothing. I would be pissed too if I was told on air that my co-host was quitting. Ugh.

Plus, there's the fact she already had a vacation planned and really only had to skip one day. I'd have done it, too.

According to Page Six, the pair already had a tense relationship and this incident was just the icing on the cake.
Insiders tell the news outlet fans shouldn't be fooled by Kelly and Michael's friendly on-air chemistry. The pair "did not get along. It was all for the show," a Ripa source told Page Six. "They could not stand each other, and whenever they communicated off-camera, it was always through their reps."
Strahan was reportedly acting out on set, allegedly over the stress of co-hosting "Live!" and appearing on "Good Morning America" two days per week.
"He was having temper tantrums. He'd lose it, yelling at [Ripa] and ["Live!" executive producer Michael] Gelman," the source added.
Ripa feels like Strahan should have handled this better, especially since she was instrumental in him getting the job at "Live!" back in 2011.
All of this reportedly fueled her decision to continue her protest of the show by calling in sick again on Thursday, April 21. However, her refusal to go to work is alienating lots of staffers at "Live," according to TMZ. They believe she's jeopardizing their jobs and only thinking about herself.
Production sources tell TMZ the "Live!" crew is worried that her absence will convince ABC to either kill their show, or move it to a later time slot in favor of adding a third hour to to "GMA."
The staff is reportedly worried that they could lose their jobs and believe Ripa is essentially having a "tantrum."
Strahan's team insists he didn't intentionally withhold his job news to hurt his co-host. A rep for the former Giants star tells Page Six he was "under strict orders not to tell anyone" about his move until Tuesday morning when he opened up to Ripa.

Ripa walked out with Strahan, holding his hand as normal. But then she took the stage alone to address why she was away.
Wearing a sleveless red pantsuit, Ripa received extended applause and cheering from the Liveaudience before joking, "Guys, our long national nightmare is over! I'm fairly certain there are trained professional snipers with tranquilizer darts in case I drift too far off message."
"I first want to honestly, sincerely thank you for welcoming me back to the show," she continued. "The love, the show of support through this bizarre time has been overwhelming."
"I needed a couple of days to gather my thoughts," Ripa said, explaining her absence. "After 26 years with this company, I earned the right. And to be honest, I know half of you [in the audience] called in sick to be here, so we get each other."
"In that time, I gained some perspective," she continued. "I always speak from the heart. I didn't want to come out here and just say something I regret. What transpired, though, over the course of a few days has been extraordinary in the sense that it started a much greater conversation about communication and consideration and most importantly respect in the workplace."
She went on: "I don't consider this just a workplace. This is my second home. This is a place I have devoted myself to, not just because of you our loyal viewers but because of all of the producers and the crew who work on this show. We have an incredible team. We are incredibly devoted to one another. We are family. Apologies have been made. The best thing to come out of all of this, guys, is that our parent company has assured me that Live is a priority."
She congratulated Strahan: "I am thrilled for Michael. I am thrilled for you. This is a tremendous opportunity. I and we couldn't be prouder of you and everything we accomplished together."
And then she urged people to get back to business and gave the audience some perspective. "Back to the show, this is entertainment, it's supposed to be entertaining. Let's get back to what we do best and start the show," she said. "My dad, who was a bus driver for 30 years, thinks we're all crazy. I think he's right."
After she joined Strahan at the Live co-host table, Ripa talked about celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary to husband Mark Consuelos, which she had taken some of her time off to do. She clarified that she and Consuelos did have a trip planned despite people thinking they made that up.
Ripa announced Friday night that she would return to Live on Tuesday. In a staff email that was leaked to the media, she thanked her colleagues for giving her “the time to process” the “new information" of Strahan leaving.
As of Monday morning, Ripa and Strahan hadn't spoken since she learned of his move to GMA, but they had a cordial text-message exchange on Saturday, according to a source.
He did, however, seem glad to have her back. Toward the end of their recap of the news, he said he was "truly so happy you're here and happy 20th wedding anniversary." He also repeatedly told her during Tuesday's edition of the show's travel trivia game, "I'm so glad you're back." When the caller got the question about something that happened during last week's show wrong, Ripa joked, "Don't look at me — I wasn't here!"

Meh. It isn't her show. Other people dont' have to disclose their plans to her. I don't have to disclose all of my plans to other people. Grow up. Wah, wah.
Obviously, it would behoove them to keep their stars happy. But, i dont have to disclose my employment plans to anyone other than when i give notice. It's nobody's damn business. If Michael wants to leave, then big whoop. So what? Life goes one. Find someone else. Maybe someone better. It's an opportunity to freshen up the show.

You're missing the point. She was told ON AIR. That is wrong. That should have been done behind closed doors...

I have worked lots of places where people go bananas when someone leaves. Grow the Fruck up. People come and go. Everyone has to do what is best for themselves and their family.

I already said it would behoove them to keep their stars happy. What else do you want me to say?
It isn't "disrespectful" if i don't tell you all of my plans in life. It really isn't any of your business just because i work with you. So, there is a privacy factor. I dont' have to tell you my plans. Nor would I feel entitled to know all of your plans. That is also respect.

Totally disagree. When what you do effects MY livelihood, I have every right to expect you to tell me. PRIVATELY.

In show business, the rules are slightly different.
Every person from the lead star to the camera people, to the dolly grip, to make up, to PA has a job and they each affect the other.
Yes.
This was disrespectful to not tell her ahead of time.
And if she needed a grace period so as not to say something she would regret later, then fine.
I can't make myself care one way or other about the show, but I can see her point.

Nope. You don't. When i leave a job, the first person i will tell is my employer, when i am giving my notice. You are second to them.

And I'm thinking if you left your job, there wouldn't be maybe a dozen people out of work either.

The person that needs to know who has the right to know is the one who pays me. The rest of you, sorry, you are not entitled to anything. It simply is none of your business. The company will then fill the position or not, which is none of your business. Yeah, it might affect you, but that doesn't give you some right to know.

I'm glad I don't work with you. That would never jive around here...

I would tell you AFTER i turned in my notice.
Fine. I have no problem with that. But on live TV?

Loose lips sink ships. I have been in some uncomfortable situations where i left but had to be careful about when to announce. Because, as i said, some of these employers go apeschit if you leave as if it is some personal affront, when really i left jobs that just didnt' work for me anymore to move on to something that was better for me and my family.

He should have put in his notice and then she should have been the second one he told, yes.
While I think it would have been courteous for him to tell her before they went on air I agree with Gaga that he only had to answer to his employer. I have just transfers within the company and kept it hush hush until just before because of the barrage of questions and speculation.
If they didn't get along very well I wouldn't have been surprised that he didn't tell her and figured that was managements job.

I'm not talking about him - I'm talking about the producers of the show. She should have been told prior to everyone else.

You keep comparing yourself to the star of a TV show. LOL.
When it affects HER, she should have been told. If YOUR assistant or partner leaves, you shouldn't be told at the same time as the mailboy.

I think i already said that he should have told her immediately AFTER he tendered his resignation. Not sure what is unclear about that.
