Not saying they don't exist--but outside of a very few people, the movers and shakers, as it were--most lives are not all that significant.
If they are still teaching about you in history class 100 years after you die--then you can start talking about being significant.
There are a LOT of people they don't teach about in history books who are significant - that's a poor barometer for significance. I don't think you need to literally change the world to be significant. If you touch the life of one person for the better, inspire one person to do better, that is significance and that's enough for me.
I still think husker is confusing "significance" with "fame."

Significance means to the world, not just your mom.
its not remotely the same thing as fame. If the Olson twins dropped dead tomorrow, few would truLY care or be affected.
When Antonin Scalia died, love him or hate him, it greatly affected this nation, for sure, and some decisions he made and would have made reverberated farther than that.
No, it doesn't. You can be significant to your family, your friends, your students, your patients, etc.
Show me any dictionary definition that claims it only means significant to the whole world.
The Unabridged Husker Dictionary doesn't count.
Even though you claim you're never wrong, you're wrong.
That's not significance. You seem to have an inflated sense of importance.
Sounds like a healthy self esteem, frankly.

Arrogance and conceit.
Right back atcha.
Words don't mean what YOU want them to mean.
Again show me a dictionary definition that claims significance only pertains to global significance.
Who carses what a dictionary says. This is a question of whether or not the world will be different if You are not here. Except for a few people, the answer is no.
Lol! You're adorable.
Words mean what they mean, not what YOU think they should mean.
words can have different meanings depending on the context. English must not be a language you are familiar with.
That would be correct. I don't speak a word of it.
