New Yorkers Flock to Chick-Fil-A, Despite De Blasio Urging Them Not To
Permalink

Last week, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio urged New Yorkers not to eat at Chick fil-A.

The liberal mayor argued that the owners of the popular chicken chain are "anti-LGBT," calling for a boycott in New York.

It appears, however, that the mayor's words have backfired.

The two midtown Manhattan locations are doing big business, with lines often stretching around the block.

In fact, the chain is doing so well in the Big Apple that 12 new locations are expected to pop up around the city over the next year.

According to The New York Post, Chick-fil-A is beating McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's and Subway with average sales per store of $3.15 million a year.

The liberals will never learn, will they? Backlash is a powerful thing.

The food is good. The service is excellent. And it's a good value.

Let the customers make or break the business.

Good for Chick-fil-A. Of the fast food places listed I would pick Chick-fil-A first with Burger King as my next choice if I was in the mood for a Whopper.

I totally agree.  There is no other customer service in the industry that comes even close.

I have to drive across the county to get chic-fil-a. So we don't get it often.

But man, it is worth the drive every single time.

I have one a block from my office.  We wore it out when it first opened.  We still eat there every few months or so.

I went by Target last Saturday before mothers day and the parking lot wasn't even full.  That is so unusual because it use to be always packed until the boycott.  Chick Fila never refused business to gays and even had some working for them.  The boycott was all about the owners opinion.

It's so much better than KFC.  And Chik-fil-a doesn't make me run to the bathroom.

KFC doesn't make me run to the bathroom.  I am not saying it isn't good, but we all just really like KFC.

 This.

Used to love KFC. But then again it was the only choice around here for a while.

I like the variety at Chik-fil-a. Regular chicken sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, chicken noodle soup.....

I've only had the grilled chicken sandwich and it was good. I don't go often, the lines are so long.

Ours are always long, but they move fast. They put people outside with remote ordering thingies to get the drive thrus faster, and if you have kids with you, they allow you to order, go sit down, and they will bring the food to you.

Probably not it started in GA & spread through the states.  I don't think they have made it to the northern or western states so it is doubtful they have made it to Canada.  Their batter is slightly sweet.  And their grilled chicken is very moist.

G had never eaten KFC until last year.  On the way to the lake, I had him stop and get some for lunch.  I wanted him to embrace its greasy goodness...original recipe of course...

ICK!  It was HORRIBLE.  Greasy and with very little flavor.  Just grease.  I was so disappointed.  G will never know the goodness that WAS KFC...

That's a shame!  But our KFCs around here are soooo good.  Yeah, i have to drive an hour to get it now.  So, if i pass one out of town, i pick up some YUM to bring home.

Lots of things start in Georgia.

Chic-fil-a, Chanelle bed spreads, Walking Dead.

And what about those really good burger places that they have near the college campuses?  I spent a good deal of my free time at the one in Athens when I was there but the name eludes me at the moment.

YES!!  I was trying to make a football connection in my mind.  It's been almost 30 years since I've been there but I remember them as some of the best burgers ever.

More likely hung over!  Maybe that's why they were so good.  The grease fixed the hangover.

There are a lot of things I could eat when I was younger.  But no one in my family, even the kids, likes The Varsity.  We go once in a while because it's always the Atlanta thing to do, and with field trips, but gah - it's just grease masquerading as food.

Yeah, they had them there today too.  And they set up a kiosk outside where someone could take your payment.  They only have 1 drive thru window, so him outside under his umbrella really sped things up...

CFA is very community oriented, too.

They will do charity events.

A recent one was for a local girl. She was in a horrible car accident two, maybe three years ago. There was a need to help with medical bills.

Our local CFA had a breakfast charity event. They donated every cent they made over the 4 hour period.

They've done this several times for different reasons.

They do fund raisers with the schools.

And their benefits are awesome. Insurance, education, retirement plans, and they are closed every Sunday and most holidays.

When we had the massive flood here in 2010, they closed up walk in / drive-thru business and made meals for people that were displaced and/or working with the rescues and clan up.  Didn't charge one dime to anyone.  Drove around with trucks full of meals and water and just gave them out.  They did this for 3 or 4 days.  They even actually worked on Sunday to make and deliver food...

Yep ours does that too.  One time my coworkers all had $20s so I asked the boy if he could break a $20 preferably with $5s & $1.  He was low on $1s & apologized over & over that he could not give me $1s.  The kids they hire are always so nice & polite.  And they have never messed up an order unlike every other ff place around here.  I stopped going to Wendy's they are so bad about it.  I felt like instead of ordering I should just tell them I had $10 just throw whatever in the bag & surprise me since they do anyway.

My love for CFA continues to grow.

To be fair when we had a major flood 40 some years ago & people got stuck in town, my dad included, the local McD's stayed open around the clock & gave away free coffee & egg McMuffins to the stranded.  They didn't deliver anything, just kept the doors open so people had a dry place to go.
