Going back to topic for a moment. It may be a Captain Obvious statement but it seems parents' roles are diminishing more and more. It saddens me.

Parents should be involved in all decisions that have anything to do with their kids. If the kids don't like it, there's an option for them to undertake - it's called "Child Emancipation" (the actual terminology varies from state to state, but all states have a process). If you think you are ready to make your own decisions, then by all means convince a court that you are, and move the hell out of their house.

Well, we discussed this last night in Executive Session with our Solicitor. How is this supposed to work? Does the TG kid need to get permission or make the Principal aware first? Is anyone even allowed to ask if a boy enters a girls' restroom? Is the Principal even allowed to inquire or will that now somehow violate their privacy, etc? Basically, he put this out there and now they can slap a bunch of lawsuits on the schools and the schools don't have any idea how they are supposed to approach this. Because what seems reasonable no longer is.

Our governor, the one everyone hailed for vetoing GA's own bathroom law (because he said it wasn't needed - it's a non-issue) just told Obama basically to stuff it -

"The Obama administration’s directive, recently announced by press release, to local school systems regarding accommodations for transgender students has generated confusion and controversy among parents, students and school officials. While I do not believe this directive carries the force of law, the Departments of Justice and Education have threatened to revoke federal funding from schools that fail to comply. Georgia’s constitution and state laws, however, require these decisions be made at the local level. While our 181 school systems must each determine an appropriate response to this federal overreach, I have asked State School Superintendent Richard Woods to provide guidance to those local school systems seeking assistance and clarity on this issue in order to ensure that there will be as much uniformity across our state as possible. Until Congress acts, I assure the citizens of Georgia that the offices of the governor, attorney general and state school superintendent will work cooperatively to protect the interests of Georgia’s children from this abuse of federal executive authority."



Furthermore, our superintendent of schools has determined that Obama's threat of withholding money affects special needs programs and the free lunch program the most. Yeah, Obama, cut those funds to punish the administration. That will really show everyone who you really are.
