 You really believe that eh?  I find that pretty amazing, and shocking to be honest. 

I think there had to be some sort of response to the many, many innocent people who die in your country each year in mass shootings, accidental gun deaths etc. 

The real issue is crazy people with guns. I get that but I also understand that there had to be some sort of response to the almost daily mass shootings in America.

Proper gun storage is also an issue, its not a push to remove your gun, just for you to store it away from children and not leave it lying about.

Guns will NEVER be illegal in America, honestly.....

 Same here, I have my hunting license and own guns. Its not a big deal, until someone abuses the "right" by shooting up innocent people or when children get harmed because of careless adults.

 Holy crap.  Read a newspaper.  They do have those north of the border, right?

Obama has tried the following:

Making it so that people have to pass a background check to purchase ammo.  He was not able to do this, thank God.

He wants to have doctors collect information on those who own guns so they can be put into a national database.  The ONLY reason for which is for later confiscation.  This is meeting fierce opposition, too, which it should.

He has pushed for legislation to take guns from those who are on the terror watch list--even if they have not been convicted, or even accused of a crime.  

He has supported ridiculous measures such as the "assault" weapons ban.

 No, none of that has PASSED, as of yet, thanks largely to the NRA--but that doesn't mean it isn't what Obama goals are.

 Actually - 

One of the laws allows gun owners to carry weapons in national parks; that law took effect in February 2012 and replaced President Ronald Reagan's policy of required guns be locked in glove compartments of trunks of car that enter national parks.

Another gun law signed by Obama allows Amtrak passengers to carry guns in checked baggage, a move that reversed a measure put in place after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

That second one was simply reversing a post 9/11 restriction and the first one has a caveat.  They were also laws that were going to pass with or without his approval.  Presidents hate to have their vetos overturned.

But, it is important to note, these were 1st term maneuvers.  One of the major platforms for his reelection was restricting gun rights, and he has issued executive orders to do so since then.  He has nothing to lose now, and can do what he really wants.
