Its a long weekend here, I too have tons of laundry.  Three kids and all those sheets and towels. Youngest got himself a job after school at a restaurant, his apron/chef jacket thingy is filthy when he gets home, he alternates with 3 of them but still.

We always go away on this long weekend but won't be this year, it will be strange.

If you wash it with lemon juice, it'll take the food smell out.

Good to know.  I always wash my kitchen stuff separately from clothing because of the smell.  How much lemon juice per average size load Lily?

Really? just throw some lemon juice in the washer? I hate that smell,...the greasy kitchen smell.

It gags.  My old roommate dated a girl who worked at Red Lobster.  She'd come over straight from work & the smell would permeate the house.  She was a really nice girl but I was so glad when they broke up.  Except I missed the left over cheddar biscuits she usually brought home.

G has decided to postpone his trip for a day, because the boarder will be SLAMMED Monday. He will probably drive to Detroit on Monday and spend the night there so he can get a jump first thing Tuesday morning...

Probably a smart move.  Is he just going to visit friends now that he's retired?

I noticed that a mall in Bellingham, just across the border, is offering exchange at par. I guess they need the business.
Yup the border will be very busy, I've already noticed lots of American license plates here.

He will visit them briefly.  He's going on his "Bucket List" trip.  He's driving through Canada, stopping and fishing when and wherever he wants.  He's taking the boat so he can fish bigger water.  I really am so excited for him!  I'm glad that he gets to do this...

How great for him & safe travels!!

And I'm sure a relief to you that his bucket list is fishing instead of sky diving or climbing Everest or some other dangerous adrenaline high.

What are you going to get? Are you doing rear facing still or did you/are you switching to a forward facing one?

I don't know why, but I love looking at all the different car seats. I follow car seat pages on facebook and I am always reading all their comparisons, lol.

I don't know yet. I recently read about a seat that has cooling technology in it and that will come in handy during summers here so we might get that one if we can find it. He's tall for his age (almost 36 inches) and it's hard to find a seat that his head isn't at or above the top. We found an Evenflo seat we liked but since I was told to shop around and buy whatever I want no matter the price, I will do just that. He's tall and heavy enough for some booster seats but not old enough.

He's forward facing. My truck doesn't have a/c in the back and it's just too hot for him to have sun beating through the back window on his face. We tried putting a shade up on the window to keep the sun off him but it didn't stay put. So he went forward facing last summer when he was about 1.5. We keep the center a/c vents facing him and he gets a fan in the back to help circulate the cool air. Lil dude rides in style!

The seat part of my back seat is narrow so I'm looking for a seat with a fairly narrow base back to front. Side to side doesn't much matter as it's rare when anyone but DS is in the back seat but I would like a seat that isn't too bulky. He likes having his own cup holders so the new seat must have those. It also must be convertible into a booster seat. I noticed that the age guideline on the booster seats is age 4 and he'll be there in a year and a half. He sits real good in his seat so I'm sure he'll transition to a booster easily. I really, really want that cooling technology though. I'm sure he'll enjoy not burning his bum when he gets in his seat.

Well, good luck! I haven't heard of a car seat with cooling technology but that'd be great if you could get that, I'm sure it gets really hot there.

DD1 is really tall for her age too (almost 36'' as well) and we have a Britax and we have plenty of room to grow. Like years worth. They are built for tall kids to be able to be harnessed for as long as possible (I think you could easily harness until well after 4 if you wanted to).

chef - have you looked at the Radian car seats?  Pricey but smaller footprint and fit bigger kids, plus fold up for travel.  Excellent reviews and ratings.  Look at this -

Maybe a 1/4 cup for a regular size load.

It's a degreaser, too.

Cheddar biscuits are easy to make.

Make regular biscuits, add garlic powder, and a handful or two of cheddar. Mix, drop and bake.

The kids love them.

Cheddar biscuits. Mmmmm I swear they put crack in them. And RL doesn't give you as many now please lol.
I make them similar with biscuick, garlic powder, cheese and melted butter and olive oil.
Is that like yours Lily?
Mmmmm I want biscuits now. I shouldn't. I went to lane Bryant's them the bar at the melting pot for some wine before going home and had a small fondue. It was happy hour and half price. I'm full.
Maybe tomorrow we'll make them since we're having mussels 😀

 No.

I use flour and milk. Mix it to get the right consistency, add the garlic powder and cheese, drop on a pan and bake.

I rub a stick of butter over the tops after its done and sprinkle with pinched parsley.

I actually was going to mention the Radian as well, but they are narrow side to side but I have heard they are longer front to back, so I wasn't sure that would work with what she said she needed. But they are also ones highly recommended for tall kids.

I had a Radian For Reagan.  LOVED it. but to make it thin and safe, it's metal and heavy. It's not a car seat thst you move around.

The boys are still using the convertible. It's in booster mode and just uses the car's seatbelts. But the boys are so big it's ridiculous. But the law says boosters until they are 8.

Yep. EIGHT!!!!!

I'm so glad I didn't have to deal with that crap. They have to be in a booster until they are 8, but 4 year olds can ride the bus without as much as a seat belt.  Totally crazy...

I like the weight and height benchmarks better.

They can ride without seatbelts in buses, taxis, limos, etc. Go figure.

But if you go by height and weight, they are not supposed to go with just a seat belt until 4'9'' and 80-100 lbs which most 8 year olds are not. Of course that is not the law, just the recommendation.

I know, right?! DD8 is  4'7'' and 60 ish lbs but we stopped using it about 6 months ago or so. She seems to sit just fine in the seat belt, so I'm calling it good, lol.
