Why can't she order her own food?

She gets the same thing every time, 3 days of steamed chicken with broccoli, and mixed vegetables.

I call the take out place and say, "I'd like to have food delivered, same as last time." They say "Thank you" and I put the money by the front door.

Salt free and fat free.

She dispenses and heats her own meals from the Chinese food.

No one here cooks.

But lately she's been making my meals.

I hope you are able to eat more Ed. Is there anything available that tickles your taste buds? Is there anything you eat that you seem to be ok with having just another bite? I wish I could take this on for you. I seem to have zero problem eating. It seems a bit abnormal considering how similar our cases are. Hugs to you Ed, please hang in there and eat even though you dont feel like it. Please?

Eating better.

Saw them today because of mouth sores and a rash.

Two weeks ago they gave me 10 days of antibiotics to see if  it would help stop my persistent cough,

along with a better decongestant, Benzonatate.

The cough is now almost gone.

BUT .

my mouth sores seem to be Thrush (fungus).

And I have a new rash.

So today I started treatment for fungus.

Benzonatate

you were given this in the past. it is powerful.
Thrush is an very unfortunate side effects of many chemos.

There is another option if the sores keep you from eating. It is a mixture that includes viscous lidocaine. Ask the nurse at the oncology office. Dulls the taste buds but at least you will not be in pain.

And there is the magic mouthwash.

1 teaspoon benedryl
1 teaspoon liquid mylanta.

Mix and swish.

Helps heal sores.

Mouth sores, oh how I hated those sores.

Fortunately, I didn't have them for a long period of time.

They gave me something to rinse and spit, but I do not remember what it was. Sorry.

One day at a time, ed. One day at a time.

It had to be salt water.  The cure for every open sore.

For YEARS I would use black olive juice for mouth sores. Am I the only one?

Ed, how are you doing?

Sorry I haven't been on the board much to check in on you, but know that I say a prayer for you often.

Cheerios, yes, you are the only one I've ever heard of using black olive juice for mouth sores.

When I was a kid, we used powdered alum for canker sores. Worked wonders, but I couldn't use that for the sores I had while I was going through breast cancer treatments.

IKWTDS, I don't think it was salt water, it was a prescription rinse. It probably had salt in it though, so you would still be right.

There is a prescription mouthwash that you pretty much "paint" on.

It coats, has a bluish tint to it.

Depressed? Yes.

Spouse has an appointment with an oral surgeon tomorrow, and she hired an aid to help her with her clothes in the bathroom.

It's been overwhelming.

I sure do wish I could come and cook up a storm, filling your
freezer with loads and loads of your favorite dishes! Just pop
them in the microwave, and voila! I've tweaked my cooking
style to make it (almost) salt-free, fat-free, and low carb.

I was on short-term disability for 6 months, and I think that was paying the company to  cover my health insurance.

The "long term" disability has a formula that starts with a lower percentage of my base salary,

then subtracts any other income I'm getting, from retirement plans (I have a $500 / month lifetime annuity

from a previous employer) and Social Security.

I made the mistake of telling them how much SS is paying me ... and I think that took the LTD payment to zero.

No money to pay for insurance, so now it will be COBRA or Medicare and supplement plans.

Much to figure out.

Monday I got the notice that I'm separated from the company effective Sept. 10, 2016.

LTD was supposed to keep going for another year.

SURPRISE !

Ed with your current health issues, you will probably save more this year by buying cobra. I assume you've reached you deductible for the year.

Also - look into permanent disability rather than plain Social Security. If you
start plain SS, you can't then go on permanent disability, which pays more.

I'm sure from the company standpoint, they made a wise decision. From my standpoint, however, they suck. You've been a good employee. It would not kill them to keep you onboard.

A company doesn't decide Ltd benefits, that is the insurance. If Ed is not on Ltd and not working, the company has to let him go. Lots of policy and liability rules for employer's.

Logically, I know that. But, my heart says they can find something small for Ed to do so he is working just enough to keep him on.

Hope you can get this figured out soon, it's just adding more stress that you don't need.

CT scan shows that nothing has changed,

tumors unchanged.

Still short of breath. I will see my chest surgeon on Wednesday. Maybe he will have some ideas.

In the meantime, i have to buy a car . I'm looking at late model Camrys.

I LOVE my '11 Corolla! I'm still getting 33+ mpg, with no
mechanical problems. I think it was previously owned by
a car rental company, because of the "no smoking" decals
on the dashboard. Quite comfortable to get in and out of.
DH surprised me with it, about a month after we got married.

Seriously, I think I'd like a Subaru if I was going to get a foreign job.

Always liked them.

 Company car.

I have to buy a car, move everything that's mine over and give the Prius back.

It was nice having a free car for the last 9 years.

Why not just use that one?

 She's getting out more.

Also, the trunk is  full of her stuff.

She will inherit this new one eventually. In the meantime, I'm used to not needing to ask for permission to take "the" car.

Trying to maintain my lifestyle.

 Your soup would be amazing.

The company is taking away my iPhone and car on Tuesday. I have a new smart phone, which I will get used to.

I'm trying to get to Toyota, my dealer has a 2014 Certified low mileage Camry LE for about $16,000, which I can afford. This will be my third 2 year old Camry.

I've been taking Benzonatate as a decongestant, and I think it stopped working for me.

I switched back to Sudafed today, and I'm feeling better.
