I know.  Where's the incentive when everyone gets the same reward.

None. The point, I believe, is to kill the will.

To make us all good little soldiers.

 That's an interesting comment, actually.

Soldiers are trained to obey orders, correct? Yet the military still rewards excellence.

It was more of a figure of speech, actually. Not to disparage the military at all, but it would seem the government is trying to dumb down society because it's easier to manipulate and control them.

Oh, that makes sense. When I saw "soldier," I took it literally.

I know. #1 takes everything literally, too. #2 doesn't. It's interesting how they are both so different in so many ways.

I really hate the "Everyone deserves a trophy" Politically Correct baloney that's taking over this country. Americans used to strive for greatness, now the younger generations just strive for mediocrity.

I pity the person who has to "strive" for mediocrity...

Actually, they don't actually strive for anything. They just show up and breathe and never break a sweat.

Well, DDs are off to their last day of school today, and I have to follow at 9 for the 6th grade awards ceremony, where only 10% of the sixth grade was invited. So, I'm glad they are still rewarding the ones that do best.

Oh, God. I am so glad I don't have but one more awards day to sit through.

They can go on and on and on.

In elementary, every single student got the "grizzly" award. The school mascot. It was the seat warmer award. You had to sit through an entire grade of students being named individually.

It was torture.
