A flock of flirting flamingos is pure, passionate, pink pandemonium-a frenetic flamingle-mangle-a discordant discotheque of delirious dancing, flamboyant feathers, and flamingo lingo.
What's more "natural" than oil, coal and natural gas? The Left lives in a pipe dream. Well, i guess we know what's in the pipe they are smoking so no wonder.
What we need to do is just transition to Hydrogen. It wouldn't be as hard as people think. New cars could be "efficient, fuel cell" vehicles, but hydrogen will also burn quite nicely in a regular gasoline "combustion type" engine too. All that would realistically need to be changed on older cars would be replacement of the fuel tank and fuel delivery system. A 1 day job, tops.
I think the biggest issue against lithium would be that while one of the United States' (and Europe's as well) primary objectives is to end its slavery to "foreign oil,"... the real player in the lithium market is Bolivia. <--- yep, thats a "foreign country".

The U.S. is currently the largest oil producer in the world.
If we want to end our dependence on foreign oil, electric cars are a drop in the bucket to that end. Utilizing our own coal, oil, and, especially, natural gas reserves are the key, at least for the next 50 years until a legitimate form of alternative energy is available, reliable, and cost-effective.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.
