Not to mention the FACT that most of the electricity to charge said batteries comes from fossil fuels, anyway.

And then the battery has to be disposed of.

What's more "natural" than oil, coal and natural gas? The Left lives in a pipe dream. Well, i guess we know what's in the pipe they are smoking so no wonder.

What we need to do is just transition to Hydrogen. It wouldn't be as hard as people think. New cars could be "efficient, fuel cell" vehicles, but hydrogen will also burn quite nicely in a regular gasoline "combustion type" engine too. All that would realistically need to be changed on older cars would be replacement of the fuel tank and fuel delivery system. A 1 day job, tops.

I really do not see the liberal nonsense. You have a meme picturing the BHP Escondida copper mine. From what I found lithium comes from salt flats.

This is a picture of the Escondida copper mine. Doesn't look like the same mine another poster attributes the meme' to.

EDITOR’S WARNING: It is important to read the article below. The meme at the top is being debunked as nonsense, not supported.

The Daily Kos has NEVER published anything resembling a "fact".

Pretty much any source on the internet--or anywhere else--is more reliable.

Right, do your own research instead of relying on a stupid meme. :)

I think the biggest issue against lithium would be that while one of the United States' (and Europe's as well) primary objectives is to end its slavery to "foreign oil,"... the real player in the lithium market is Bolivia. <--- yep, thats a "foreign country".

The Daily Kos is NOT "research".

The U.S. is currently the largest oil producer in the world.

If we want to end our dependence on foreign oil, electric cars are a drop in the bucket to that end.  Utilizing our own coal, oil, and, especially, natural gas reserves are the key, at least for the next 50 years until a legitimate form of alternative energy is available, reliable, and cost-effective.

When in doubt, attack the source. Attack the author. Do everything except address the CONTENT.

Why should we waste our time when, most often, the SOURCE determines the CONTENT?

Looks the same to me.  Not the same vantage point, the same time of day, the same photographer with the same camera but the same mine.

Unless you think mining.com is liberal

I don't think they even look close to the same--but substitute one of the other pictures if you want.
