One of my friends has the invisalign braces. If I didn't know she had them I probably wouldn't notice. They seem to be taking longer then mine will. She really likes them.
keep thin dental floss with you at all times. And you can chew gum, helps to clean the food out just make sure it is sugar free. Take special care of your gum line. It is common for your gums to recede a tad with braces as an adult and there will be a yellowish line.

As a kid I ate everything any anything when I had braces. I did have a waterpik which helped clean the food out. On the days where they were tightened, they were a little sore but I still ate. I remember going to the orthodontist on Halloween. No way I wasn't going to eat candy that night.
Traditional braces are safer than the super fast kind.
We had a couple of patients who actually lost teeth as a result of wearing "fast braces". They move the teeth too quickly and can damage them.
The fast braces guy in our office complex closed his practice after being sued multiple times.
Maybe you could get a second opinion about traditional braces.
I wore braces for about a year as an adult to correct my bite. My sonicare really helped keep my teeth clean.
I don't remember restricting my diet at all, except for a couple days after each adjustment. That **** hurts! They expect everyone to just tough it out with regular Tylenol. I lived, so I guess they are right. I was really surprised by how painful braces were.

I had braces as an adult. Before each ortho appointment I took Advil so it would kick in by the time my app't was over.

I never took pain medicine. It never occurred to us, growing up. Once in a great while we took aspirin. I try not to give pain meds to the boys but when I do, it's tylenol. It seems to work the best. I do have some oxy the hospital prescribed after #1 broke his arm. He took some that first night but nothing after that.
