And the funny thing is, I'd have been pissed off at whatever President they were bashing while overseas, even Obama. It's all well and fine to discuss with other Americans the views you have, but to go to another country and publicly dis your own country? That's not patriotic.

I hear them, its interesting when performers decide to let their political opinions known, many do. I'm not sure if it hurts them as much as some would like to believe it does.

In their case it really did hurt them. They were at peak career & then bam no more concerts, no radio, at least not here. Who knows how big they would have been if she hadn't mouthed off. They really are very musically talented.

From what I understand, and based on this recent tour, I believe they are OKAY with that, not being as popular as they could be based on them expressing their opinions.

It will be interesting to see how this concert series does, I think its been 10 years since they played in the USA.

Some people never learn. They threw away their career. Even when President Bush came to their defense, it couldn't save them. Their #1 song fell off the charts within 2 weeks, concerts were cancelled b/c they couldn't sell tickets. They lost their sponsors, and radio stations had to stop playing them b/c people complained if they did. And contrary to belief - very few radio stations boycotted them, but when listeners don't want to hear it, it stops getting played.

The Dixie Chicks were/are very good artists. It was sad to see them implode. But people who depend on others buying what they are selling need to know their audience. They can say whatever they want - but people don't have to listen.

It's too bad, really, that we won't be able to know if fans were ready to forgive them, b/c now they are still being political at their concerts. I don't go to concerts for politics.

I would have to agree with that, considering Natalie's post implosion insults to the country music industry that gave them their start.
