Surprise! All of us knew who the migrants were, before you asked repeatedly...
flan
shhh... it was a secret.
Well this is a game changer isn't it!
It's the spin the media puts on it.
Can't paint those muslims in any kind of bad light.

How did the media spin this?
You can't possibly believe that using muslim instead of migrant would have gained very much sympathy.

I knew from the get go that the immigrants were Muslims...or I assumed so. I think most people did, wasn't it in the article that was posted?
It doesn't matter if you knew.
Using certain words instead of others is a way to control emotions of the readers.

Volunteers from Caritas, a Roman Catholic organisation focused on relief efforts, who discouraged some Christians from praying the rosary out loud at the Saint Anthony Church in Ventimiglia, Italy, worried that this might offend the African refugees, who were mostly Muslims.

That isn't in the OP.

No it isn't.
So you think they called them African Refugees as a trick?

I think it was done on purpose. Yes.

Because you would have sympathy for African Refugees but not if they are Muslim African Refugees?

I think it's more that telling Christians to shut up in their own churches so as not to offend Muslims is rather horrible. And they know it.

Who knows it? The people who wrote the article?
The people who did it and the people who wrote the article.

So you are switching the topic to not welcoming the immigrants instead of the actual OP .... Could that be because of the fact that nobody here can prove that the immigrants asked for this?
Where do you suggest these homeless people go? Just curious...

Why are you asking me? All I did was say "Well said!"
I don't care who asked. Who asked is irrelevant. The problem is that the request was even made when it shouldn't have been made.
I support the church opening it's doors as a shelter to anyone. I don't support the church changing it's ways inside it's own sanctuary in a way the denies it's parishioners their ability to follow their faith as the always have there.
And as chef mentioned: "Don't move there if you don't like the laws, rules, customs, mores, etc." The same goes for temporary shelter at a place that's offering it. If you don't like it there, and cannot accept it as-is, shelter somewhere else.
I don't care if the church itself initiated the request to not pray out loud. Who started it isn't the problem. The problem is that it was done in the first place. If hearing a Christian prayer is so offensive to a Muslim then perhaps the Muslims ought to seek refuge in a place that isn't a church. If Christians were seeking refuge at a mosque, I would tell them the same thing: Accept that you will hear Muslim prayer or go elsewhere.
It is wrong for immigrants to expect people to change for them. Don't move there if you don't like the laws, rules, customs, mores, etc. - chef

I'm not switching the topic nor did I say to not welcome the immigrants. Read the first two sentences of what I wrote, especially the second one. I bolded it. Now, read what I put in red. The church's primary duty is to its parishioners. Yes, help the immigrants - but not at the cost of your parishioners and certainly not ignoring Biblical teaching re prayer. Read again what I put in red. If Christian prayer is so offensive, go elsewhere. Lastly, read what I put in blue. Going into someone's home and expecting the laws, rules, etc. to change for you in rude. The immigrants are guests in that church. And, they can feel welcomed even if they hear a Christian prayer.
Where do I suggest they go? I don't really care. All I want is that for them to accept the laws, rules, etc. of wherever they do go. Presumably, they're fleeing their home country because they don't like the situation there. But they want their new country to adopt the same laws? No. If they desire to live under the laws they fled from, they can turn around and go right back to their home country. They should be grateful for the opportunity to escape the situation in their home country. They should be trying in earnest to assimilate into their new country. Some do, I'm sure. Perhaps even most. The ones who don't should be sent back to their home country.
Again, it doesn't matter who started it. It doesn't matter if the immigrants asked for it and that fact didn't get reported. It doesn't matter if the church itself hatched the idea and went with it. Point is, it shouldn't have happened. And truly, it's more heinous if the church was the originator of the idea. A church that tells its parishioners to not pray aloud for fear of offending someone is a false church.
That would all be well and good except for the most obvious of issues, did the immigrants ask or expect the church to do this for them?Your opinion is based on the idea that the immigrants expected to have the church change for them. As of yet I have seen no evidence of that.
You can't send them back, they actually have no country. Again, refugees.....
The bolded. I don't know. It doesn't matter. As I and others have stated multiple times.
The red. No, it is not. It is based on the fact that the request should've never happened regardless of who initiated it. You're stuck on it not being the immigrants that asked. If anything, they should've stood up and said no, we don't want the Christians' prayers silenced. Again, the request should've never happened no matter who initiated it.
Refugees do have a home country. They may not want to go back but their country is still in existence.
