Typical liberal response.  It's all about controlling the masses.  The state should not be dictating where people can smoke.  That should be up to the people.

But liberals are all about suppressing freedom...

I completely disagree.  Smoking affects those around you.

Then don't patronize places that allow smoking.  That's the way it's done in KY...

Well, if it's not banned anywhere, that could be all public places - which is ridiculous.  I should be able to walk into restaurants without inhaling carcinogens.

And I feel I should be able to smoke where I want to.  You don't have to go to a restaurant that allows smoking.  There are other places to eat...

Your rights end where mine begin. So, when you can figure out how to smoke without polluting the surrounding air for others, let me know.

And I think it should be illegal to smoke around children.

So you want to dictate what people do in their own houses?  Tobacco is not illegal.

I'm far from liberal and I certainly don't want disgusting cigarette smoke in my general vicinity.

I consider constant exposure to second hand smoke to be child abuse.  It is HORRIBLE for their little lungs - and people should not be allowed to expose children to that.

And yes - we have laws that won't let you abuse children even in your own home, it would just be more of the same.

You want to smoke - do it where it doesn't affect others.

It's disheartening to think that smokers ASSUME they have the right to expose other people to carcinogens.

I'm not assuming anything.  In my home, and in KY, I have the RIGHT to smoke.

The only restaurant that had a smoking section closed last summer. I was so sad to see it go. We ate lunch there almost every week. Not just for the smoking because the food was good too.

I was in a bar and the bartender saw me going out to smoke.  He yells, where ya going?  I told him to smoke.  He throws an ashtray at me and said no one is going to tell him what should go on in his business!

I'll meet you there for drinks!!

We were talking about the good old days in the car the other evening.  Back when you told the reservation desk at the hotel you wanted a smoking room & they handed you an ashtray with your key.

Not here.  Way too close to PC DC. I can't tell you how many times I'm out in the parking lot at work smoking & some stranger has to make a comment about how bad smoking is.

I don't miss smoke wafting into my breathing area in public.

I'm probably the only one who remembers when smoking was allowed on planes.

I remember that, too. I had a boss that smoked and she would call meetings and sit there and blow it in our faces. One of the women on our team had quit and I always thought it was rude of her to do that, especially to her.

Our office was a smoking office long after it was banned in restaurants, etc.  Then my boss's brother died of lung cancer & she got this psychosomatic cough every time someone lit up.  Shortly after she made us quit smoking.

No speed laws, people should go as fast as they want?

#1, yes

#2 FAR too many government regulations.  Seat belts for one.  No one should be forced to wear a seat belt.  No one should be forced to have to wear a helmet on a motorcycle.

I agree on #1.
Not so much on the seatbelt laws, I don' really have a problem with that as it has been proven to save lives and its just automatic for me to wear one. I do remember though, as a child, jumping around in the back seat while mom was driving. Oh and those station wagons were great fun for hanging you feet out the back window. Times change as technology and information/education give us some pretty indisputable truths.

This was very unfortunate. Obviously, it would have done no good for them to sit down if everyone else was still standing, anyway.

Those morons in the seats behind them just ruined their night for nothing.
