This is actually a decent discussion topic. And I find it very sad...
JUSTICE IN AMERICA... Brock Turner, a former Stanford University swimmer (White), got six months behind bars last week for raping an intoxicated, unconscious woman behind a dumpster. Meanwhile Cory Batey, a former Vanderbilt University football player (Black), is expecting sentencing for taking part in the rape of an intoxicated woman. He faces between 15 and 25 years in prison.
I don't think its a white/black issue, per se, but there is little doubt that money buys freedom.
Wealthier people can hire better lawyers. They often don't have a criminal past that can be used against them in sentencing. They often "clean up" better--fewer visible tattoos and piercings, better clothes, etc...

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

Nailed it!
Subject of a recall? Does that mean his sentencing may be changed?

The sentence can't be changed but I believe parole can be denied until the full 3 years are served.
It isn't much but it's something.

No they aren't. Both colleges are private and have hefty tuition. Can't tell the wealth of these accused by the pictures. Stanford is in CA, a very blue state, Vanderbilt is in TN. Laws and punishments are vastly different.

not agreeing with the sentencing in the turner case but the two cases were VASTLY different viz the suffering/exploitation of the victim and the actual events of the crime itself

It would help if you would actually explain the differences.
