I could never ever home school them. They don't listen to me now, and no way I could figure out the wacky dacky curriculum they require anyway. Heck, I couldn't even teach them to swim. Or potty train them.

Me neither. They will just have to take their chances with public school because I would not be a good teacher and private schools are too far away. Thankfully, I love our schools and teachers and I feel they have the kids' best interests at heart.
Pretty much, flan. I took their pull ups off on a Sunday and sent them to preschool on Monday. They had a woman who was in charge of the kids who were "transitioning". By day two or three no more accidents and they were done. Nights were never a problem. They were just shy of 3 and the other 3 1/2.
Now I'm hoping they'll teach themselves how to ride a bike.
Home schooling, if you connect with the right group, they pretty much walk you through it.
And you have benchmarks to hit.
Once a yr there are tests given by the school system.
And there are licensed, certified teachers available for you and the child.
I seriously looked into home schooling and was going to home school Jesse.
There are even home school sports teams and clubs for extra curricular activities.
And in a lot of cases, they can even participate with activities at the local schools.
Any child, no matter where they go to school, is only required to have 4.5 hours of education a day, for 175 -180 days a year.

DS will be attending a private Christian school. The public school system is rapidly becoming a joke. Also, having worked in AZ's public school system, I don't want my son having to deal with the inanity.
I definitely want a Catholic or other Christian school. This teaching the children that there is no gender and you can chose what gender you want to be is asinine. And they are doing it:
No way could I home school my kids. I would have given anything, however, to have been able to only work part-time when they were young.
In general, they miss too much without the school experience.
I just had a short nap. Man, that felt good.

Homeschooling has changed a lot since our kids were school age. My daughter has looked into several coop, programs that has a lot of interaction with other kids.
Unfortunately, what I see as a librarian is often a parent whose child has been kicked out of public school for behavior issues & thinks homeschooling is the answer.

My boys are about 4 years apart. DS1 is uncoordinated (poor kid takes after me), and he was simply too nervous when I tried to work with him. Luckily a babysitter was able to teach him.
DS2, on the other hand, found a wrench & took the training wheels off his bike all by himself.

There are those but fortunately that is not the majority of kids who are home schooled. Homeschooling isn't for everyone and if you live in a good location with a good school that is great too.
Help me out guys! I just bought these beautiful bowls from a thrift shop and I have no idea what to put in them. I don't want to put them away and only use them every once in a while. SO suggested candy which would look cute but we don't even eat candy.

Dollar Tree has scented beads - clear/light pink/dark pink - that will fragrance a room for over a month! They would look great in those bowls. It looks like the pink flowers are calla lilies - right?
Clear or iridescent marbles and pillar candles in the small ones.

Just so you know, splashing chicken stock in your eye is not refreshing.
That is all.

Oh I don't know what they are I'm not very botanical :(
But scented beads sound great!
If you put something scented in it, it could permeate the glass and never come out.
Do they have any marks on them?
I'd use them for special occasions or family dinners.

I pretty much taught myself. Dad tried to teach me by holding on the back and I fought with him, told him to let go. When he finally did, I took off.
DD wouldn't let me teach her. She would sit on the bike and just scoot along. One day she was scooting along after her friends and I told her to pedal and she did!
I don't remember how I learned. Trial and error I suppose.

I love when the city folk get excited for the wildlife
I ain't no city folk
Keep them darn fawns out of my yard!
Currently, we plan to live trap a bunny. He likes the garden way to much.
Ugh, we have so many rabbits in our neighborhood. They torment the dogs.
We had a Momma rabbit and three baby rabbits make a home in our mulch pile a couple years ago.
Those rabbits were so cute.
But I think a coyote got them all.
My neighbor spotted a fisher cat in the back yard today. Those sucker are dangerous.
Wow. Yeah, that's not good.

I totally get this. I want to enjoy my children, and if I was with them all day, every day, AND had to teach them everything - that would not be enjoyable.

Fair warning - private school has its own issues, and they nickel and dime you to death. But, we will be sending DD12 back to private school when she hits high school.

Use the big one for fruit, and use the small ones on your dresser for jewelry and/or keys and change.

Yeah, I've noticed all the extra costs and fees associated with even the Catholic schools. Same supplies lists, too, that we are expected to provide.
I had to google fisher cat. Oh. my. Gosh. Now I have one more thing to worry about. I'm not an outdoorsy kind of gal.
They don't get government funding, so the parents have to pay for everything - from paper, to books, to the tissues and gym supplies. And LOTS of fundraisers.

I had to do that for my kids in public school...

He'll be going to the one through our Church. From what I've read so far, they seem to be pretty fair. We will have to buy uniforms from their stated uniform shop but I have seen anything else that must be bought at a certain store. Hopefully, it will be a positive experience. We'll find out starting the 2017-2018 school year.
I love fundraisers so that's a part of school I'm looking forward to. I always took my cousins around when fundraiser time hit. Love it!
Im back from the wedding. It was meh. The grooms son cried through the whole ceremony because his grandmother jumped him about something that had been decided months ago. She did this RIGHT before the wedding started. I found out afterwards. If i had known, i would have given her a piece of my mind...

I went to private Christian school until 8th grade.
It was small, maybe 50 students total.
Probably because it was so small, we didn't have a lot of expenses.
We took field trips, got out at 12 on Fridays and went to Lake Winnie, a local amusment park, a few times each year.
Lunch was prepared by a grandmother who could make anything taste good.
And it was all self motivated teaching.

Sonny is exhausted! He went swimming today in the creek at the cottage, went on many walks. He had never been to the cottage area before so it was all new to him. Then my bro showed up with his daughter and her entire basketball team and families. One minute 5 of us were relaxing around the cottage and the next there was a 30 person party happening. Crazy! Traffic was great coming home. We had a great weekend. Tomorrow is all about the lawn work.

One of my coworkers sent her son to the private Catholic school. If a parent did not volunteer at least 2 hours a week the tuition went up a significant amount. A few mothers made the lunches and the daily cost was $4- $6 a day per student. This was just the beginning of the nickel and diming.
